Cliff Bleszinski Admits It Was A Mistake Not Releasing LawBreakers on Xbox One - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 02 September 2020 / 3,370 ViewsBoss Key Productions founder Cliff Bleszinski took to Twitter to admit it was a mistake to not release the the "gravity-defying, omni-directional multiplayer" first-person shooter, LawBreakers, on the Xbox One. The game only saw a release on the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. With the failure of the game, the developer shut down in May 2018.
He is best known for his work at Epic Games as a lead designer on the first three games of the Gears of War franchise, which were console exclusives on the Xbox 360. The IP was later acquired by Microsoft and has remained an Xbox console exclusive on the Xbox One with the releases of Gears of War 4 and Gears 5.
Bleszinski said the majority of his fanbase were Xbox owners who played the Gears of War franchise and it would have made sense to release the game on the Xbox One.
"..yes, it WAS a mistake putting LawBreakers on PlayStation over Xbox," said Bleszinski.
"The Boss Key chapter of my memoir is going to break ALL of this down, I assure you," he added. "When people follow your career from a beloved series such as Gears on Xbox uhhh mighta made sense to put the new game on said console."

Oh and while I have your attention - yes, it WAS a mistake putting LawBreakers on Playstation over Xbox. :)

He is correct and wrong at the same time. He is correct tho he should make this games as multiplatform title. And many Xbox fans was fan of his works on Gears of War and many Xbox gamer loves to play shooter and competitive games. What wrong is even if the games is coming to Xbox , it will not help the games . The games are trash and the market full of games like this.
Please majority of gamers don't even known which company developed x game let alone a single developer, the game failed due to it being a generic half arse attempt in an over saturated genre.
This guy is the Don Quixote of video game directors. He’s always coming up with excuses and fighting fake battles because he thinks he’s the greatest, when in reality he just kind of sucks. Lawbreakers failed because it was a ripoff in a saturated genre, just like his battle royale game on PC that never left Alpha stage. Could being on XB1 have helped? Maybe, but the game still wouldn’t have been the “ next billion dollar IP”, and would’ve still been empty within 6 months of launch.
I'd never even heard of this game. On his Twitter he said that's partly the fault of the publisher and their marketing, but I hadn’t even heard of the publisher before either.
Yeah, sure, the fact that the game was made for the most popular system was the reason this one failed. Absolutly. I could see absolutly no other reason this might have happened.
There was an interesting article on the rise and fall of "celebrity" developers like Bleszinski. Seems like ages ago when CliffyB was being paraded at video game shows around like a J-pop idol.
