Publisher Deep Silver and developer 4A Games released  Metro Exodus for Windows PC Steam on February 15. The game was previously released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC via the Epic Games Store.

Deep Silver's parent company, Embracer Group, in an earnings call have provided an update on the sales figures for the steam version of the game.

"I was happy to see it performing well, selling about 200,000 copies already, and it was surprising to see one big country in Asia, the biggest country, buying the product," said Embracer's CEO Lars Wingefors.

Here is an overview of the game:

The year is 2036.

A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro.

They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war.

But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East.

Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.

Explore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.

Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyom’s story in the greatest Metro adventure yet.

Key Features:

  • Embark on an incredible journey – Board the Aurora, a heavily modified steam locomotive, and join a handful of survivors as they search for a new life in the East.
  • Experience Sandbox Survival – A gripping story links together classic Metro gameplay with new huge, non-linear levels.
  • A beautiful, hostile world – Discover the post-apocalyptic Russian wilderness, brought to life with stunning day / night cycles and dynamic weather.
  • Deadly combat and stealth – Scavenge and craft in the field to customize your arsenal of hand-made weaponry, and engage human and mutant foes in thrilling tactical combat.
  • Your choices determine your comrades’ fate – Not all your companions will survive the journey; your decisions have consequence in a gripping storyline that offers massive re-playability.
  • The ultimate in atmosphere and immersion – A flickering candle in the darkness; a ragged gasp as your gasmask frosts over; the howl of a mutant on the night wind—Metro will immerse and terrify you like no other game.

Would love to see Epic numbers.. You'd hope the Steam sales would mean publishers would release all future games on all stores at launch, and everyone is happy.. but i somehow feel, the publishers that didn't care about their supporters and their community on Steam will say: 'Ohh the Steam guys still bought our game even though we took Epic's timed exclusivity deal. We recieved upfront money and good sales on EGS at launch, we'll just make the Steam guys wait again since they'll still buy our game a year later anyway' The only ray of hope is that this 200,000 completely crushed EGS sales and the $ from Epic, leading publishers to view Epic as just another store they will launch the game on, in additon to launching the game on Steam.

You can hope that steam sales crushed EGS's but that means they can have their cake and eat it to,the best way would be if the Steam Sales are lower than projected , even better if those lost sales were worth more than the money made from the EGS deal , I don't know the sales history but 200k seems pretty good, another thought, we can't just blanket blame the buyers since we don't know what their individual stances were and with most of these things some would have kept their boycott some would have gone console and others caved in, but there would be a lot who were ambivalent about the controversy and buy off steam when available.

The interesting thing was the publisher saying they were surprised to see the biggest country in Asia buying the game , and he is obviously referencing Russia so why not say so.

Who? The publisher or the fans?

Because they bought the game? If so I would agree. People who are against this type of selling out should boycott the game.
