30th Anniversary Super Mario Bros. Encyclopaedia Released in Japan - News

The book covers everything Mario, including the 17 mainline entries in the series. It also includes developer interviews, original artwork, explanations on level design, and more.
No word yet on whether or not it will see a release outside of Japan, but hopefully it does.

There is no "17 mainline" entries. SMB,SMB2,SMB3,SMW,SM64,SMSS,SMG1,SMG2. Everything else has was something else.
Maybe these are the games they mean? Not sure if all them would count as mainline though.

If it was with beautiful illustrations(and large in size), I would get it as a way of memory of my childhood.
I usually don't buy any video game books but that sounds pretty cool. I'd get it if it was around $20-25.
