Overview

There are no games in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch, however pre-orders do pick up. The top five games include Gears of War 3 (X360), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360), Battlefield 3 (X360), Madden NFL 12 (X36), and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (X360). The top two has 500,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week, and the top 10 has 200,000 or more pre-orders, up from nine last week. Five games add 50,000 or more pre-orders, up from three last week and seven add 20,000 or more, up from six last week.

Other Hot Games

Gears of War 3 (X360) is at the top as it adds 57,000 pre-orders up from 55,000 the previous week. The game currently sits at 1.37 million pre-orders. The game is six weeks away from launch, on September 20 in America and EMEAA and September 22 in Japan. Gears of War 3 for the fourth week in a row added less pre-orders than Halo: Reach during the same number of weeks before launch, as it seems more unlikely that Gears of War 3 will have more pre-orders by launch.

Battlefield 3 (X360) is at number three as it adds 44,000 pre-orders, down from 38,000 last week, for a total of 441,000. The PlayStation 3 version is at number 10 as it adds 13,000 pre-orders, the same as last week, for a total of 203,000. The game is 11 weeks away from launch, October 25 in America and October 28 in EMEAA.

Modern Warfare 3 vs Black Ops

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) is the second most pre-ordered game as it adds 66,000 pre-orders, up from 59,000 pre-orders the previous week. The game currently has 781,000 pre-orders and is 13 weeks away from launch, November 8 in both America and EMEAA. Call of Duty: Black Ops (X360) the game with the biggest opening in gaming history, didn’t reach the same number of pre-orders until it was eight weeks away from launch.

Modern Warfare 3 vs Black Ops

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3) is down two spots to number six as it adds 17,000 pre-orders this week, the same as last week. The game is currently at 319,000 pre-orders and will launch in 13 weeks, November 8 in both America and EMEAA. Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3) the game with the biggest opening for the PlayStation 3, didn’t have at least the same number of pre-orders until it was 10 weeks away from launch.

Also in the top 10: Madden NFL 12 (X360) jumps up two spots to number four as it adds 74,000 pre-orders, up from 42,000 last week, for a total of 348,000. The game is three weeks away from launch, August 30 in America and September 2 in EMEAA.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (X360) is at number five as it adds 49,000 pre-orders, up from 18,000 last week, for a total of 325,000. The game is 13 weeks away from launch, November 11 in both America and EMEAA.

Madden NFL 12 (PS3) is up one spot to number seven as it adds 69,000 pre-orders, up from 42,000 last week, for a total of 306,000. The game is three weeks away from launch, August 30 in America and September 2 in EMEAA.

Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC) is up one spot to number eight as it adds 70,000 pre-orders, down from 97,000 last week, for a total of 305,000. The game currently has no release date in America.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (X360) is down two spots to number nine, as it adds 15,000 pre-orders, down from 16,000 last week, for a total of 269,000. The game is 14 weeks away from launch, November 15 in America and EMEAA.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception adds 8,000 pre-orders for a total of 173,000. Batman: Arkham City (X360) adds 14,000 pre-orders for a total of 172,000. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (X360) adds 13,000 pre-orders for a total of 119,000.

Requests from last week’s article for games that are not in the top 20: Dead Island (X360) adds 8,000 pre-orders for a total of 84,000, while the PlayStation 3 version adds 6,000 pre-orders for a total of 46,000. BioShock Infinite (X360) adds 1,000 pre-orders for a total of 40,000, while the PlayStation 3 version also adds 1,000 for a total of 18,000. Mario Kart 7 (3DS) adds 2,000 pre-orders for a total of 30,000.

I don't know, but it looks like PS3 owners don't like to pre-order games :S. Even games that we know will end up selling crazy amounts, like MW3 (PS3), dont have great numbers. So I think that you cant judge how a PS3 game will sell based on the pre-orders

Sony software seems to be getting outsold by Xbox360 in multi platform games by a lot...... pretty crazy that Resistance 3, Deus Ex , Rage aren't even in the top 20 on the list for ps3

There are only 60% as many PS3's in Americas as 360's and CoD sells better on PS3 outside of Americas. Still the number is low, I wonder if MW3 will become the best selling 360 game, above Black Ops.

I would like to see where star wars kinect stands next week. I figure not many people will pre-order the game by itself so the # would be a mostly made up of the custom consoles and I'd like to see how those are selling.
