Xbox in July of this year announced it would be laying off 3,200 employees with 1,600 people let go at the time and another 1,600 planned by the end of the current fiscal year, which ends June 30, 2027.
A new report from The Information, citing multiple sources, states a second wave of layoffs will happen this week with hundreds of employees set to be laid off. This includes consolidating several studios.
The studios would be consolidated were not revealed by the sources, but suggests plans include mergers or movement across Xbox's publishing arms - Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Activision, and Blizzard.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier in the latest episode of the 8-4 Play podcast said layoffs at Blizzard Entertainment are "imminent." The company, which is the largest entity in Xbox, was mostly unaffected by the first round of layoffs in July.
