Chrono Trigger and Mega Man X Finally Hitting Virtual Console
by Nicholas Taylor, posted on 25 March 2011 / 1,552 ViewsAt last, it looks like both Capcom and Square-Enix are adhering to fan demand and releasing Mega Man X and Chrono Trigger respectively for Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console.
Chrono Trigger was a collaboration between Squaresoft and Enix before they merged as a company, and is one of the most celebrated RPGs of all time, and also often seen as one of the best SNES games ever. It was originally released in 1995. Mega Man X was the first game in the X-series of Mega Man, and brought a more storydriven approach to the games. Mega Man X was originally released for the SNES back in 1993.
Both of the games will be released for the Virtual Console in Japan during April of this year. Although only a japanese release has been confirmed so far, it seems practically inevitable that they will be released in other regions as well.
@TruckOSaurus You say nothing, like you've forgotten that Final Fantasy VI/III just came out
Oops! I mean the Virtual Console not Wiiware in my previous post! LOL They're not the same thing.
Since this version coming to Wiiware is based on the original version of Chrono Trigger, I wonder if you will be able to do the same cheats. Like the walk through walls cheat or more importantly, the save anywhere cheat.
Wow! After months of nothing worth noting two awesome games coming our way soon!
@Ninpanda Yeah I have to agree that Megaman X on the SNES if better and I don't like the voice acting! I want Megaman X3 for PSN, I have Megaman X and X2 on the SNES... NOW!!!!!
@nazna I meant that the lack of VA in the original is nice. I don't want to hear X yell "Shotgun Ice!" or "Boomerang Cutter!" every time I use them. And the world was a better place before Chill Penguin had a voice. I will admit that playing as Vile was cool, and I kinda liked the The Day of Sigma video. The slowness of the gameplay just turned me off.
They laughed when I traded my copy of Chrono Trigger for Wu-Tang Clan, Roll Cage, and Akuji The Heartless on the PS1. Well who's laughing, now!? They are. Those games all sucked. But soon, I will feel less badly.
@ninpanda It's definitely slowed down some, but that's a pretty large exaggeration. It also has tons of new/better features. I mean, you can play as Vile. How is that not awesome? But yes, it's easier, and a bit slower, and that's fine with me. Also what do you mean the lack of voice acting? MHX has voice acting. It's MMX that doesn't.
@nazna Maverick Hunter X, eh? Well, if you're fine with a version whose gameplay is so slow, that it makes the SNES original looks like it's on speed, then good for you. And the lack of voice acting is neat, too.
Wow, two of the best games of all time on Wii in April... Big news! Hope this is the beggining of a list of good downloadables for the VC, such as both MM X 2 and 3, MM 7 and some Square RPGs!
