Gearbox (on 14 January 2010)

crazy how there are so few wii titles but we all know that super mario galaxy 2 will end up having like 60591948919381318939 pre orders

huaxiong90 (on 13 January 2010)

BioShock 2 for PS3 needs to pick up soon...

st_muscat0 (on 13 January 2010)

Just saw those Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes numbers, OH YEAH!!!

libellule (on 13 January 2010)

SegaWorld, you should try Total War serie if you want large of amount on unit on screen MAG = 256 players online MAG =/= 256 players on screens

Makaha (on 13 January 2010)

@ItsameMatt We all know you don't even have a PS3!! LOL You mention getting the 360 version of FFXIII and not the PS3 version, even though you supposedly have a PS3 We believe you!!! LOL LOL

KeyKoman (on 13 January 2010)

The PS3 has the most preoders. No suprise here.

CGI-Quality (on 12 January 2010)

I've seen plenty. I'm not sure how you're playing the game.

SegaWorld (on 12 January 2010)

Larger map yes but the espaces between carachters are very disperse so you never see 50, 40 or 30 soldiers at the same time.

CGI-Quality (on 12 January 2010)

@ Sega Either your connection is terrible or you aren't playing in the larger scaled games...

SegaWorld (on 12 January 2010)

Mag is boring, i dont understand why he sell. I never see more than 15 charachter at the same time in the beta, very disapointing

Hisiru (on 12 January 2010)

@-ku- What gays has to do with what you said?

Steroid (on 12 January 2010)

Looking forward to both and feeling bad for those who don't have access to either.

Nintendology (on 12 January 2010)

I am surprised that Tatsunoko and MAG ranked up as high as they did. Perhaps I missed the hype vehicle behind MAG. It does look promising though. It is odd that Mario Galaxy 2 has so few pre-orders. The irony will be that its pre-orders won't be much, but its sales will probably dominate upon arrival. Also, Alpha Protocol needs more hype.

--OkeyDokey-- (on 12 January 2010)

I wish the weekly charts looked like this. No stupid casual games :P

yo_john117 (on 12 January 2010)

Wow mass effect 2 is really getting alot of pre-orders. I estimate around 800k first week ww.

Kantor (on 12 January 2010)

In fact, HD games in general are looking very good. Only 2 Wii games in the top 30, 1 on DS, 3 on PSP (all at the bottom though), 11 on 360 and 13 (=O) on PS3

Kantor (on 12 January 2010)

Also, lol at Halo Reach already being in the top 25.

Kantor (on 12 January 2010)

Nice boost for Mass Effect 2. That and MAG are looking like they'll have very strong debuts indeed. FF13 is looking slightly less abysmal than before. GoWIII will be huge.

huaxiong90 (on 12 January 2010)

Wow, Mass Effect 2 rocketed up. Great to see such a boost. Should have a nice opening along with MAG. Not too bad for Heavy Rain, either.

Fab_GS (on 12 January 2010)

@Banned2010 Check this post http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?post=3042132&page=1&postnum=5

CGI-Quality (on 12 January 2010)

@ Outlaw For those games, you'd have to know the expectations before we can claim what will/will not "sell well".

CGI-Quality (on 12 January 2010)

@ Chair-man. HEAVY RAIN isn't expected to be a big seller. If it reaches 100,000 within those 6 weeks, which it probably will, it'll do just fine. 1.5mill can happen IMO.

Munkeh111 (on 12 January 2010)

Great to see Mass Effect getting a decent boost, it should be pushing 750k WW first week at least FF XIII pre-orders are picking up slowly, hopefully they start to sky rocket soon

darthdevidem01 (on 12 January 2010)

@kowenicki correction FFXIII (xbox 360) is poor PS3 is very good.....the 360 sales better pick up soon but despite that its got the 2nd highest increase this week (combined) without a beta/demo/trailers & whatnot

Simulacrum (on 12 January 2010)

Guys...Bioshock 2 is very low. Very.

kopstudent89 (on 12 January 2010)

i hope no more heroes does well

outlawauron (on 12 January 2010)

People that think WKC or Heavy Rain are going to sell well need a bit of a reality check.

BoneArk (on 12 January 2010)

No More Heroes 2 is really flying under the radar.

Gilgamesh (on 12 January 2010)

@Banned, why? explain yourself

the1te (on 12 January 2010)

so, GOW3 has beaten uncharted 2 in America Preorders with two months to go if it just gets a little steam, it'll eventually reach the same level as MW2 PS3 week 1 atleast in preorders

Gilgamesh (on 12 January 2010)

PS3 > X360 with Bad Company?? God of War is going to be huge!

SegaWorld (on 12 January 2010)

it's time the players wake up right

libellule (on 12 January 2010)

SegaWorld , it is time to wake up man ...

libellule (on 12 January 2010)

lurkerwithnosoul , sorry man but considering the 2-1 user base in favor of the 360 I maintain that : 360 owners MOSTLY do not care about FFXIII wait and see

SegaWorld (on 12 January 2010)

Aliens vs Predator with 3 campagn solo + multiplayer , divesidad gampeplay and intense fight must beat gow 3 and his smashing button and limit gameplay. Predator !!! Kill kratos NOWWWWW!!!!!!!!

Chairman-Mao (on 12 January 2010)

Heavy Rain not lookin too good. Only 35k with 6 weeks to go. GoW3 will be insane. Over 300k and its still over 2 months away.

Tbone (on 12 January 2010)

Gow 3 will own when it releases. Mass effect 2 big opening week. Very surprised by MAG, BFBC 2 well do good aswell. Lol, Halo reach and Super mario galaxy 2 won't releases for months and they are that high already.

Reasonable (on 12 January 2010)

MAG looking pretty good for a new, online only IP in US, I guess the extended Beta has helped attract interest and convince people to stick with the game. Looks like the PS3 beta has helped PS3 version of BC2. If the title did sell more on PS3 in US it would be a huge surprise, but I'm sure in the end it will sell better on 360 in US. Mass Effect 2 a little lower than I was expecting given all the advertising and push it's been getting recently, but perhaps I was expecting too much. It will be a strong success nonetheless I'm sure and those are still good pre-order numbers for an RPG (albeit a Western one with heavy shooting/combat elements). GoW3 is pretty high considering there isn't even a release date noted. I'd argue Sony needs more titles like GoW vs FPS titles in US, so I'm interested to see how GoW actually sells.

kowenicki (on 12 January 2010)

thats actually pretty poor for FFXIII I think.... maybe not surprising though. ME2 and GOWIII are going to be biggies.

darthdevidem01 (on 12 January 2010)

Also HALO reach at 21K already.looooool!

darthdevidem01 (on 12 January 2010)

WHO CARES BOUT EVERYTHING ELSE! FF13 GOT A BIG INCREASE YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! {360 pre-orders are a bit too low, are you sure they are not undertracked?}

lurkerwithnosoul (on 12 January 2010)

libellule Since there are 43,702 preorders, i would say that they care. That's almost half of PS3's preorders, wich are quite low in my opinion. (But i'm not used to track FF games preorders numbers, so i don't if those are standart or unusual). Mass Effect isn't that great, but i guess that it's normal. But on the other hand God of War III have already strong numbers. And how strange. Why are preorders numbers for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 greater on PS3 by such a large margin?

haxxiy (on 12 January 2010)

Alan Wake, where art thou?

jneul (on 12 January 2010)

Hey WKC is surprisingly low, I expected a lot more than that, come on people it is time to support RPG's(apart from FF) if you want more of them that is

libellule (on 12 January 2010)

binary solo , 360 people dont care about FFXIII, even more since it will get "average/good" review that will not really attract new people big FF fans will buy it = PS3 crowd

binary solo (on 12 January 2010)

Is there much advertising for FFXIII? I imagine once the marketing really gets into full swing the 360 orders will start to catch PS3. If the PS3 debuts substantially higher than 360 in Americas there's a good chance the FF franchise will stay within the Nintendo/Sony family.

papflesje (on 12 January 2010)

@ swordy: hack&slash is better on a ps3 controller, that's why it ranks higher (same as why fps are generally better on a 360 controller) Bad company 2 is currently higher because the PS3 had an exclusive beta. Therefore, more people were probably convinced by the beta and have preordered the ps3 version. No need to bash the entire charts for something that can be explained with ease.

Swordy (on 12 January 2010)

Those charts are garbage, does anybody honstely believe that Battlefield will sell better on the PS3 in the USA(!!!)? Same with Dantes Inferno.

Dv8thwonder (on 12 January 2010)

I find it hilarious that Pokemon HG/SS will sell better in it's first week of sales than any other title in the top 10 of the pre-order chart.

--OkeyDokey-- (on 12 January 2010)

Conviction isn't low. Mass Effect wasn't doing any better this far from release.

donsterydo2 (on 12 January 2010)

And Conviction veeeeery low. It looks like it got stuck at some point.

donsterydo2 (on 12 January 2010)

It looks like ME2 should have sales at UN2 level.

rockleemexico (on 12 January 2010)

no more heroes 2 needs some love D ;

Simulacrum (on 12 January 2010)

Mag suprisingly low.. Bioshock 2 very low! Bad Company 2 very high on Ps3...and xbox360.

madman25 (on 12 January 2010)

I'd like to see numbers 31-40 too. I'll be preordering ME2 collectors edition this week.

starcraft (on 12 January 2010)

Mass Effect 2 has a lot more than I'd have expected.

mrstickball (on 12 January 2010)

Good to see Mass Effect have a decent number of preorders. I haven't preordered a copy, but its day-1 for me. Should sell about 600k in the US, and maybe flirt with a 1m worldwide debut.

ameratsu (on 12 January 2010)

Nice variety of games up there. Surprising to see Dante's Inferno ps3 over x360. Amazingly few DS/Wii titles. Though I suppose they're more the type to go to the store and buy it rather than preorder well in advance.

NicholasCage (on 12 January 2010)

I didn't expect ModNation Racers to be in the Chartz this early.

GodOfWar_3ever (on 12 January 2010)

ItsameMatt You are obviously a PS3 owner because you ordered the multi disc version of FFXIII instead of the single BD PS3 version. :-P How did you learn to make such excellent posts ? Can I get some tips from you ?

trestres (on 12 January 2010)

The lack of Wii titles on that list is pretty worrying. But it does show where all the support goes.

MontanaHatchet (on 12 January 2010)

Nice trolling Matt! Great to see that so many games are so high, especially Battlefield. Looks fantastic. Mass Effect 2 got a huge boost in preorders, which is great to see. I'm happy now.

ItsameMatt (on 12 January 2010)

The God of War III demo was enough to convince me that it's not worth it with Dante's Inferno easily out-classing it. Also, have all the people that have preordered MAG played the same shitty beta I have? I've preordered Halo: Reach, FFXIII(360 version), Splinter Cell Conviction , and Bioshock 2(360).

xxmob (on 11 January 2010)

halo reach is up there already it supposed to come out in more then a half a year . does any one know when gow3 comes out are a general idea

justinian (on 11 January 2010)

Good for ME2, but awesome for GOW3 that is still quite a way off release. If GOW3 can get close 500K preorders over the next couple months then U2s opening week will very likely be trumped. For a totally new game MAG is quite impressive. Great to see the old mega-hitters Mario, Halo and GT making an appearance.

postofficebuddy (on 11 January 2010)

Hot damn at FFXIII (PS3), it's really starting to take off. And wow at GT5, #13 and we're probably still about 5-6 months out. Congrats to Mass Effect 2 for taking the #1 spot. Come on Heavy Rain and pick up some steam. God of War 3 is going to have a massive opening. 1 million first week in Americas alone a possibility?

I like Bacon (on 11 January 2010)

First it was top 40, then top 50, then back to top 40, and now top 30. why?

MarshmallowMan (on 11 January 2010)

What an amazing lineup! I can't believe how many awesome games are on that list, regardless of which console you own. Props go to Microsoft for Mass Effect 2 and the real sleeper on the list: Halo Reach. Also props to Sony for having so many good exclusives lately. GOW III, MAG, heck - even ModNation racers is charting! It's going to be a big year!

restored_lost (on 11 January 2010)

god of war 3 is street dated for march 16th that is confirmed not speculation.

JaggedSac (on 11 January 2010)

Wonder how many weeks till Reach is at the top of this list?

--OkeyDokey-- (on 11 January 2010)

Bad Company had to crawl to a million on both consoles. Looks like it won't be that way with the sequel. No commentary, ioi? I was hoping for some Mass Effect first week predictions. 500k looks likely with two weeks to go.

DOLBYdigital (on 11 January 2010)

Interesting numbers and hope to see AvP rise some more since I really think that game is going to deliver a different experience for gamers. I'm only going off of videos and other testers impressions but it seems like they have refined the old school AvP PC games but stayed true to the series which trust me is a very good thing. BF:BC2 is also another great game that I'm glad to see getting some pre-sales since it really reminds me of an upgraded BF2 (from PS3 beta experience). Can't wait for the PC beta which is coming out Jan 28th :)

CGI-Quality (on 11 January 2010)

HEAVY RAIN looking fairly good. FFXIII (PS3)/GOWIII/MAG/Mass Effect 2 = WoW!

leatherhat (on 11 January 2010)

I cant believe there are as many psp games on the list as Wii and DS combined.

Dark Odin (on 11 January 2010)

such low numbers dor white knight.... that´s sad.

hudsoniscool (on 11 January 2010)

ya weres 31-40, and the link to last weeks numbers

arcane_chaos (on 11 January 2010)

looks like EA is struck it right with the whole"if you like god of war. play dante's inferno" for the PS3. God of War will be huge! looks like FFXIII(PS3) is really pulling away! yeah where is #15,#19, and #24

axumblade (on 11 January 2010)

Why are PS3 presells so high on a lot of these games? Battlefield and Final Fantasy XII are understandable but Dante's Inferno?

ThePlaystation3Guy (on 11 January 2010)

To ANYONE wondering why Dante's Inferno has better sales on the PS3, it's simple. The demo hit the PS3 first. Second, we get the DIVINE EDITION for just buying the game, as it's exclusive to the PS3. Plus the PS3's demographic is older anyway. No way lil' Timmy's mom is buying him Dante's Inferno, lol. Look for the FF XIII pre-orders to on the PS3 continue to grow more and more. The reason BFBC2's pre-order's are so high is because we had the beta..though the PC is getting it also, if you missed it. Look at Gran Turismo 5..won't hit for another 5 or 6 month's and it's at 13 already? Awesome! Look for Halo: Reach's pre-orders to jump soon after Game Informer's newest issue (It's the cover story for this month). Look at those MAG pre-orders...200,000+ and counting. Sweeeeet. Nice to see ModNation Racers, Heavy Rain, and White Knight Chronicles on the list. 4 new IP's from Sony charting? Sweeet! Maybe Microsoft could learn something from them..

steverhcp02 (on 11 January 2010)

Wow, i dont care if its a "PS3 franchise" The fact we have known for 18 months FF13 was coming to the 360 and the 360 lead in the states the fact its 2:1 in favor of the PS3 is a complete, total and utter fail. If MAG actually moves 300k units week 1 it will be such a success...new IP and time of year. As another poster mentioned, the legs of the online game could prove large, depends on word of mouth and reviews. Heavy Rain is tracking for a potential 100k first week which is pretty impressive as well. All and all looks pretty good. GoW 3 is ridiculous though and BFBC is insanely healthy for both consoles, id expect the 360 version to outsell the PS3 version but the fact it looks like its going to be close is good for Sony.

Hisiru (on 11 January 2010)

@leatherhat Yes, I agree that an adventure/point and click isn't very popular nowadays (even less on consoles) but Heavy Rain has potential to sell much more, I think the problem here is marketing.

ArcticGabe (on 11 January 2010)

Not sure what's happening to Dante's Inferno on xbox 360. But I still believe 360 will have higher first week sales in USA.

coolbeans (on 11 January 2010)

I'm gonna say a 100k jump for ME:2 next week ( getting ready for my March Madness predictions, warming up sooner this year :P)

SaviorX (on 11 January 2010)

Red Steel 2 was delayed......... The lack of No More Heroes 2 kind of worries me. Good to see Tatsunoku vs Capcom though. Should get a 50k debut!

Procrastinato (on 11 January 2010)

ME2 I'm not surprised at. Well known (and awesome) RPGs tend to be heavily front-loaded, with regards to purchases. GoW3 I'm also not surprised at. Big franchise, single-player experience with an "M" crowd of fans all willing and able to pick it up on day 1. It's games like Dante's Inferno which I find boggling. Why the huge difference between PS3 and 360 preorders? Especially with the GoW3 competition on the PS3, and no such thing on the 360? Shouldn't the 360 preorders be higher, just be userbase, let alone a lack of competition? MAG, by nature of being an online title, may have some hefty legs, so a big opening week is really remarkable, imo. The fact that its "T" rated will only serve to extend its legs even further.

libellule (on 11 January 2010)

gg to ME/GOW/MAG not gg to FFXIII/Bioshock2 and lol at DI on 360, 360 owners seem to prefer shooters game (with GUNs) over anything else even with a big big scythe !

Branko2166 (on 11 January 2010)

GOW 3 over 300K even without a release date is hugely impressive. Looks like it will have an even better opening than Uncharted 2 in the states. Sony better advertise the hell out of it before it's released though to maximise its potential. Also great job by Mass effect(360) and Dante's inferno(PS3).

Xen (on 11 January 2010)

FF XIII leads well on PS3, that's nice. GoW III has been knocked down from the top. I got tired of seeing Kratos there every week, lol. Well, it's cool if it's ME2.

leatherhat (on 11 January 2010)

I think Heavy Rain is doing fine, it is a very niche title

Hisiru (on 11 January 2010)

Looks like Heavy Rain won't sell above 100k (first week), which makes me sad! Mass Effect 2 is doing a great job! I am suprised with MAG too, it's a new IP and it will have a big launch. Go Pokémon!

leatherhat (on 11 January 2010)

Yeah where is splinter cell? You think it would be above a lot of those titles on the list.

Carl2291 (on 11 January 2010)

Also, Heavy Rain needs some advertising... And fast!

hudsoniscool (on 11 January 2010)

i know that but some people were saying it wouldnt pass Gow 3 in pre-orders.

hudsoniscool (on 11 January 2010)

i cant believe splinter cell c is so low, it should have 250k right now.

leatherhat (on 11 January 2010)

It only passed GoW because its releasing so soon, GoW will have a much bigger opening

hudsoniscool (on 11 January 2010)

i knew mass efect was going to pass GOW3. wow AvP is pre-ordering very well.

Aion (on 11 January 2010)

Wow FF XIII 360 looks amazing.

binary solo (on 11 January 2010)

I'm amazed at the PS3/360 difference for Dante's Inferno. It's basically Bioshock 2 in reverse. Do these pre-orders reflect a true difference in genre preference between the PS3 and 360 demographics? I've got to think that in the end DI will sell better on the 360 in the Americas. MAG is very respectable. Mass Effect 2 is looking good for a strong opening. GoW III can easily make it over 500K before release, possibly even 750K. Could open to 1 million in the Americas alone perhaps. That would be wow if so. Heavy Rain needs a marketing nudge for it to open above 150K at the rate it's going.

leatherhat (on 11 January 2010)

PS3 in general is doing really well, even smaller titles like WKC and Heavy Rain are shooting up in preorders

leatherhat (on 11 January 2010)

I hope MAG can open at above 300K, that would be amazing
