The Coalition Studio Head Says Next Gears of War Game Won't Take Nearly As Long as E-Day - News
by William D'Angelo , posted 15 hours ago / 937 ViewsThe Coalition studio head Mike Crump in an interview with the BBC addressed the concerns from staff on possible layoffs now that Gears of War: E-Day is out and added the next entry in the series won't take nearly as long.
"What I say to myself, what I say to the team, is we just we need to focus on the things that we can control,” Crump said (via VideoGamesChronicle). "For us that’s about shipping a great game that people are going to love and I feel like, as a team, we’ve done that."
He added, "We’ve got a great team here. And the leadership team in particular has worked together for upwards of 20 years. So there’s definitely a continuity of knowledge and experience."
Crump stated that Gears of War: E-Day was mainly built from scratch instead of building on top of previous Gears titles. E-Day will provide "a great foundation" for future entries in the series, which means "the next game will not take nearly as long to make."
Gears of War: E-Day is now available for the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.

Love this current direction
Gears Eday is awesome! They should work on a Gears prequel trilogy. A lot happened between Eday and Gears 1.
Really enjoying E-Day right now. Feels like a perfectly modernized version of the games I grew up with.
Makes sense. Sequels used to be built off of the same graphical libraries as the predecessor. With all of the work they did building this one from the ground up, it makes sense that they will be able to utilize pre-existing assets to streamline future development.
I'm enjoying tf out of the game so far!
i can assume the next Gears will take place between Judgement and Gears 1.
Im getting cynical, but I feel less is more here.
When Microsoft says things like this now I start to assume the opposite is true.
Also given the current restructuring at Xbox, it seems extremely likely Microsoft will start layoffs at The Coalition now, especially if E-Day misses its sales target.
