Sonic Movie Delayed Until 2020 - News

The upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which faced a significant amount of backlash upon the release of the debut trailer (including forcing the director to concede that the lead character would be redesigned to address fan concerns) will now be releasing in February 2020, the director has revealed on Twitter:

The film was originally scheduled to release on the 8th of November, 2019. Presumably, the delay is related to the work required to 'fix' the design of Sonic.

That's good. A delayed movie has the potential to be great, a rushed one can be terrible. Same goes for games.

How about when they finalize this new design they show it to us right away before redoing all the CGI of Sonic and releasing another trailer that may look just as bad and have time wasted again. And did anybody get fired for this? lol

Word is the producers were behind the bad design choice so, can't exactly fire the guys funding your movie.

I doubt they'll (wisely) show their hand before final production. This is costing them, quite possibly more than the movie will make. February is basically an entire extra year of production.

I don't really know how to feel about this,it will likely be a bad movie with a good sonic design so still not enough to make me interested but will feel sorry for the people that put all the work into the redesign if it still fails.

It didn't matter much to me until so many people had to put their two cents in. It started with his eyes, then his body then his gloves etc. It was as if they've been living in a cave the passed 15 years and never seen the 100s of other reimagined characters. The trailer was horrible and it had nothing to do with the design of Sonic. It's poorly written and no paint job can fix it. It upset me to see because it's a perfect analogy to todays society in general. Cry babies.
