Sony Signs UK Start-up Wish Studios to Create New IP - News

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has signed has signed a development deal with Wish Studios. The studio is a new start-up and is based out of Brighton, UK. The studio will be developing a brand new IP for Sony.

Wish Studios was founded earlier this year by ex-Sony and Relentless Software employees. They have worked on the EyePet and Buzz franchise for the PlayStation platforms, and Kinect Nat Geo TV for the Xbox 360. The studio plans to develop games and apps for console and mobile platforms and wants to focus on social gaming and titles that use augmented reality and motion control.

"We are incredibly excited to be working with SCEE," said Wish Studios CEO Caspar Field. "While we can't give away any details about the project, we can say that it's playing beautifully and has enormous potential. Sony continues to show vision and leadership in bringing original, innovative ideas to gamers, a commitment we share at Wish Studios."

"We love working with creative start-ups like Wish that are passionate about games and hungry to innovate," said SCEE vice president Mick Hocking. "The guys at Wish are very talented and we look forward to a fruitful relationship together."
