When I went to pick an new game this week I had a choice between Modnation Racers, Split Second and Blur as Red Dead was sold out everywhere. Anyways I was pretty hesitant to get this over Split Second or Blur as they have there own really cool looking features and qualities, Blur had a really fun looking online set up (especially the team races) and I absolutley loved the demo for Split Second so it was a tough decisionbetween the three becuase the reviews were generally a little lower for MNR than the other two but MNR is a PlayCreateShare game and I love to create.
So when I finally decided to go with MNR i was starting to regret my decision on my way home when started to think about the demo compared the split/seconds and how slow it felt plus it only had limited creating options which does not help the game or demo at all. But when i put it in and started to create i was shocked by the amount of content thats already unlocked from the beginning and was really getting into it. I started to play around with the options and found out that you can change the speed of the karts making them faster or slower depending on your skill level and if you didnt like that slow feeling you may have had from the demo. The drifting is excellent and the controls are really well placed.
The story is also suprisingly good and had a sorta Ratchet and Clank feel to the comedy. The online community is really creative and nice from what i have played of it and i love the fact that there is a split screen for online and offline multiplayer. The amount of content there is in this game awlays keeps you coming back for more and the addictivness and persistance to unlock all the content will keep you busy for hours on end, and the online community is just as or more creative than that of LBPs. IMHO
a couple problems i had with it though were when you hit a wall somtimes it seems to suck in the front of your car but this is rare. And that the AI in the later races of the SP get kind of cheap and alway go after you instead of other AI.
Overall I say that ModNation Racers is well worth your time and money, and I am sorta glad they were sold out of Red Dead Redemption or I might not have picked this up. (still getting RDR for sure) On a final note I would like to say that even though there arent a great variety of weapons the gameplay is alot better than other recent kart racers including: Mariokart wii, Sonic and sega all stars racing (but still a good game) and what i have played of madagascar kartz and is in my opinion the greatest challenger to Crash Team Racing ever. (even though CTR wins everytime).
BTW it is soo much better than the demo makes it out to be and even the demo was great.

Actually, this game is one of my favorite games of all time. Should have sold way more than 1 million. I really hope they make a sequel for it on PS4, if they do i'll buy it day one. Message | Report |

Finally 1 million but this game deserves 2 million. This is like Sony's version of Mario Kart but you can make your own tracks. LBP 1 got big because you could make your own level but this is similar I just don't know why it doesn't sell. But I do understand that it had problems when it came out. I THINK THEY SHOULD MAKE GAMEING SITES THAT REVIEW GAMES AFTER A YEAR THEY COME OUT = problems fixed makes it a better review. Message | Report |
