If you're a Nintendo fan, you should know full well what the Mario Kart franchise is.  Detracking from  Mario's platformer origins, Mario Kart is a series that pays homage to Mario's otherwise single player experiences and brings an arcade style of racing that can offer enjoyment for one or more players.  Mario Kart DS is probably the best the series has to offer and brings enough new to make returning fans glee in satsification.

In contrast to its precedessor, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Kart DS returns to one character gameplay.  The game also offers the Mushroom Cup, the Flower Cup, The Star Cup and the Mirror Cup that have been series staples.  Also new to Mario Kart DS, is the Ranking System, The Retro Grand Prix, the Mission Mode and Nintendo Wi-Fi Matches.  Any of these modes can offer several hours of play.
