The Last of Us Part II shoots straight to the top of the UK charts in its launch week, according to GfK for the week ending June 20, 2020.

The Last of Us Part II is the biggest launch for a first-party PlayStation 4 game, beating 2016's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End by just one percent. It should be noted this only includes retail sales. It sold 76 percent more units than the original did when it launched for the PlayStation 3.

The game is also the biggest launch in 2020 in the UK, outselling the previous record holder, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, by 40 percent.

Ring Fit Adventure (NS) remains in second place for a third straight week, as sales increased 31 percent week-on-week. The release of the first expansion pass for Pokémon Sword and Shield did help the game rise up the charts. Sales for Pokémon Sword increased 51 percent as it came in at number nine, while Shield comes in at 22nd.

The fact that its only retail during a pandemic and broke all those records is mighty impressive!!

alan95 (on 22 June 2020)

Metacritic's User Score got nothing on this!

Immersiveunreality (on 21 June 2020)

That is very true!
But they still can learn from the criticism and make an even better product next time.

What criticism to expect from the 50k troll reviews? PSN have the game at 4,5 with 7k reviews, on metacritic the score is 3,9.

That is massive

Spike0503 (on 21 June 2020)

I loved the original TLOU so I'm happy TLOU2 is becoming a success.

Congrats to Naughty Dog, keep doing the things that make you great!

Curious how it compares to other recent AAA Sony titles.

shikamaru317 (on 21 June 2020)

It is apparently Sony's biggest UK launch ever. This is their previous top 7 launches in the UK:
Uncharted 4 (TUE) : 192k |
Spider-Man (FRI) : 190k |
Uncharted 3 (TUE) : 116k |
Horizon Zero Dawn (WED) : 114k |
God of War (FRI) : 96k |
Heavy Rain (WED) : 86k |
Uncharted 2 (FRI) : 84k | So it sold more than 192k first week.

I only appear in the digital sales, so I did not help one bit here, but congrats to Sony and ND for yet another amazing launch :-)

LivingMetal (on 22 June 2020)

I've been asking around and have been receiving anecdotally that the game has been selling out or at least close to selling out in most places I've asked. Keep it up.

hush404 (on 22 June 2020)

Never thought I'd see an article pitting Animal Crossing and TLOU2 against each other XD

xMetroid (on 21 June 2020)

I mean it was expected but congrats ! Wait AC left the top 10 ? RFA doing amazing, Pkmn climbing back with the DLC, we not know the actual big DLC will have impact on the legs.

think-man (on 22 June 2020)

I haven't even picked it up yet. My hype dyed down in recent months and will probably wait until it's cheaper. I did love the original though, would put it in my top 5 ps3 games.

Walbert (on 22 June 2020)

Impressive, Neil Cuckman can still cram this game up his *ss

sabby_e17 (on 22 June 2020)

Buy a used copy. Doesn't count as a sale and Sony and Naughty Dog don't get any money and you can still play the game.
