Independent Video Game Industry Analyst Benji-Sales via Twitter has pointed out Minecraft Dungeons has ended Animal Crossing: New Horizons streak at the top of the Nintendo Switch eShop Best Sellers charts. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been the best-selling game on the eShop since it launched in early March. That is three months at the top.

Benji earlier this week mentioned Minecraft Dungeons was the most popular game on Xbox Game Pass, dethroning Minecraft. It was also the number one game on the Top Paid list on the Xbox Store.

The first of the two planned DLCs, Jungle Awakens, will launch in July, while the second DLC ,Creeping Winter, will launch later this year. The two DLCs are included in the Hero Edition of the game or can be purchased separately from the base game for $10.

Minecraft Dungeons Sales

Last month, publisher Microsoft and developer Mojang Studios announced the sandbox survival game, Minecraft, has sold over 200 million units worldwide, with 126 million people playing the game monthly. Sales for Minecraft previously topped 100 million units sold in 2016.

Microsoft acquired Minecraft developer Mojang and all the rights to the game in 2014 for $2.5 billion. In 2014, the game had sold over 50 million units.

Minecraft Dungeons is available now for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Xbox Game Pass for Console and PC.

Microsoft has another hit on their hands. I hope they treat it like a GAAS and bring constant updates for free. The length of the game is definantly something that needs to be looked into.

The price alone is not the only factor. It got a decent amount of advertisement and it has the Minecraft IP.
