Very good news, the Switch is a beast. Now let's see if it falls off a cliff enough to pass the Cube. Well done!
Nintendo is doomed!
And Its only the beginning of the Best gaming device these days.
Solid. Hopefully we get a PS4 vs Switch aligned sales soon.
Sony announced PS4 sold 14.4 million as of Nov 22, 2014 which was 53 weeks after launch.
Vgchartz has Switch at 15 million after 51 weeks of sales.
Is that sold or shipped for the ps4?
Sold
Is that number correct? Sony said they had shipped 13.5M worldwide as of november 14th 2014. Source: Sony himself https://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/15788978222/
A man named Sony.
It is correct, 13.5 million is shipped as of Sept 30, 2014.
Wow. Over 15 million in a single year. That has to be beyond Nintendo, or anyone's expectations.
And people doubted the 20M figure Kimishima expected for financial year 2018.
See "open your eyes" thread by Rolstoppable. But yes, it is imlressive.
Given how few they initially had manufactured, I'm pretty sure this far exceeds their reasonable hopes heh
Has to be one of the biggest turn arounds in the gaming industry. Going from there worse selling to a industry record breaking numbers. Well done Nintendo. Keep delivering.
Technically, it is exactly the same as GameCube to Wii, great job, but hooefully people will stop being surprised next time.
Although I woukdn’t say the pattern means anything. Only that they went the wrong direction with the Wii U; I would say either they should have waited for the Switch, or released a Wii HD in 2010/11.
Jumpin, I mean...they did release a Wii HD, It was called Wii U. It was an HD Wii that also included new stuff because they knew the Wii ran out of steam after a few years so they had to do more than just provide the same experience plus HD. They just happened to get the next experience wrong. Obviously with the Switch they got it very right. And the Wii U was basically the halfway point between the Wii and the Switch, just sometimes halfway points don't make good products.
What a comeback from Nintendo, well deserved!
Xenoblade 2 was confirmed over 1 million by Nintendo already.
Nice!
Nice!
These numbers must be off, Nintendo already confirmed that Super Mario Odyssey sold over 9 million by the end of 2017
That's shipped plus digital sales. But some Switch games seems to have a high digital ratio here, especially Splatoon 2 and SMO
that'salotsaspaghetti
Based on the 14,8 annonced by Nintendo at last 31th December, and if vgchartz keeps tracking nearly ~225000 per week until March 3rd, the official number should be around 16,8M for the complete first 12 months. Does this number beat every previous console ?
With this momentum: three more weeks to beat WiiU, five more to beat Vita.
Wii U is already beaten
No he means the Wii U is already well beaten with these numbers. Switch passed the Wii U in like early January.
This just shows exclusives drive the sales of hardware. Imagine how many Switch will be sold when Pokemon releases.
If Pokemon is coming in 2018 they'd better start ramping up production now because that is going to be insane....
