Overview

Welcome to the new USA Pre-orders Article. This means the data doesn’t include Mexico, Canada, Latin America, etc. There are two games in the top 30 to be in its final week before launch: Mario Kart 7 (3DS) and Just Dance 3 (PS3).

The top five games include Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC), Mario Kart 7 (3DS), Mass Effect 3 (X360), Diablo III (PC), and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (X360).

The top four games have 200,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week, and the top eight has 100,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week. One game adds 20,000 or more, down from five last week and three add 10,000 or more, down from six last week.

Games in final week before launch

Mario Kart 7 (3DS) is up one spot to number two, as it adds 161,000 pre-orders, up from 70,000 last week, for a grand total of 424,000. Expect first week sales in the USA to be in the 650,000 to 750,000 unit range.

Just Dance 3 (PS3) is at number 23, as it adds 9,000 pre-orders for a final total of 49,000. Expect first week sales in the USA to be in the 70,000 to 90,000 unit range.

Other Hot Games

Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC) is at the top spot, as it adds 16,000 pre-orders, down from 75,000 last week, for a total of 916,000. The game is three weeks away from launch, December 20 in the USA.

Mass Effect 3 Pre-orders vs. Mass Effect 2 Pre-orders

Mass Effect 3 (X360) is down one spot to number three, as it adds 8,000 pre-orders, down from 24,000 last week, for a total of 330,000. The game is 14 weeks away from launch, March 6, 2012 in the USA.

Also in the top 10: Diablo III (PC) is at number four, as it adds 11,000 pre-orders, down from 30,000 last week, for a total of 254,000. The game has no release date yet.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (X360) is at number five, as it adds 2,000 pre-orders, down from 6,000 last week, for a total of 169,000. The game is 14 weeks away from launch, March 6, 2012 in the USA.

Kinect Star Wars (X360) is at number six, as it adds 6,000 pre-orders, down from 9,000 last week, for a total of 162,000. The game has no release date yet.

Halo 4 (X360) is at number seven, as it adds 5,000 pre-orders, down from 8,000 last week, for a total of 134,000. The game has no release date yet.

Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3) is at number eight, as it adds 8,000 pre-orders, down from 16,000 last week, for a total of 128,000. The game is nine weeks away from launch, January 31, 2012 in the USA.

Twisted Metal (PS3) is at number nine, as it adds 2,000 pre-orders, down from 16,000 last week, for a total of 84,000. The game is 11 weeks away from launch, February 14, 2012 in the USA.

Mass Effect 3 (PS3) is up three spots to number 10, as it adds 9,000 pre-orders, up from 4,000 last week, for a total of 80,000. The game is 15 weeks away from launch, March 6, 2012 in the USA.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: Luigi’s Mansion 2 (3DS) adds 5,000 pre-orders for a total of 68,000. Mario Party 9 (Wii) adds 4,000 pre-orders for a total of 56,000. Max Payne 3 (360) adds 3,000 pre-orders for a total of 53,000.

Requests are being put on hold for now because the VGC Pro data is still being worked on.

Wow it's nice to see a lot of 3DS games on the Pre-Order list. Mario Kart 7 has surpassed the DS version just by it's Pre-Orders, too!

Oh and it's nice to see FF XIII-2 makes it's way up there, although I won't be buying it (I did get XIII, it's just my brother owns the PS3.) :D

yeah, it's great to see 3DS games getting pre-orders, I hope they are not as inaccurate as with Skyward Sword

Mario Kart 7 is going to be a beast of a game when it comes to sales. That launch (especially for a relatively new system like the 3DS) is unreal.

Probably as soon as the beta/demo starts, pre-orders will go up in a quick pace :) Also liking Halo 4's current standing.

Nice to see Rising have healthy pre-orders.
Final Fantasy is also surprisingly high considering how many people hated the first. Or was that just internet trolls?

Software for 2012 looks pretty sad... I wonder when Gamestop will be taking XenoBlade Pre-orders.

The list is dominated by n/a release games. Software preorders slowing down because of Christmas is obvious. It is good to see ghost recon getting good preorder numbers too. I've only heard good things about it and like a lot of people are sick of cod dominating the fps genre.
