Who said Mario wasn't gonna save the 3DS? =)

It's been like 30 years and Mario still got it.

Am I the only one that thinks that Iwata is popping Champagne right now?

Nice! Next week is NA and EU turn for Mario 3D Land, and next month Mario kart 7 launching. Nintendo not gonna give a shit this time! They really making a great strategy this time, and it worked!!!

The only problem with that is mw3 just sold 9.3 million on its first day so i have a feeling whatever bump mario gives the 3ds wont play as well over here in america/emaa.

They're mostly two segregated markets that barely affect each other.

For context, 3DS software in Japan only totaled 236,152 in October. Also, about 10% of all 3DS software sold in Japan is Mario 3D Land. VERY Nice!

...Mario... damn, just damn

I want Winning Eleven (for Wii) already. Other than that, what great numbers!

Nintendogamer (on 10 November 2011)

Can't wait to get my own copy of Super Mario land 3D.

ryuzaki57 (on 10 November 2011)

Really good start for Battlefield. I can't wait to see MW3 numbers as Japanese gamer become increasingly interested in FPS.

MRKs (on 10 November 2011)

Wow incredible sales for the first four. Mario did good (don't know why I was hoping for more) and Uncharted 3 and BF3 did great for Japan. Also FF Type 0 had maintained really well. Let's hope this keeps up the next week

Not sure it's going to save the 3DS. First week Japan sales of both New Super Mario Bros games were nearly 3 times as much as this. And it's about the same as the first week Japan sales for Galaxy 2. Not that this will flop, but it doesn't look to be anything more than a 3D selling game, not the killer app that will save the system.

Don't bring that NSMB shit here. NSMB had a 14 million install base and 3DS only has 2.3 million. Also don't compare 3D mario with 2D mario. 3D Land is the best selling 3D mario in it's first week. Nice spin there bro.

The hardware numbers for the ps3 can't be right only a 1500 console bump for the ps3 after uncharted 3 is released yet another mario game can double the 3ds numbers i swear the japanese market is so out of touch with the rest of the world its just sad.

Probably because anyone who would buy a PS3 for Uncharted 3 probably already bought one for Drake's Fortune or Uncharted 2, whereas this is the 3DS' first Mario game.

But no, it's more fun to say they're out of touch and stealthily troll Nintendo.
