X-Play Best of 2010 Awards Nominees, Award Show Tonight

Spike's star-studded VGA's have come and gone. Tonight on G4TV, the seminal video game show X-Play is having their annual Best of 2010 show. Along with their chosen Best of 2010 Awards, they'll also be announcing a winner in their "Videogame Deathmatch" online user-voting contest.

Here's their nominees:

wow this list is even shittier then Spike TV Game of the Year 1. Assassin�s Creed: Brotherhood (never played it, just came out so i cant say anything about the game) 2. Disney Epic Mickey (this game is only on the list because Adam Sessler praised it to death like it was fucking GOD.. 3. Mass Effect II (yes, that makes sense because it was a fantastic game) 4. NBA 2K11 (greatest sports game ever but not GOTY worthy) 5. Red Dead Redemption (BORING) just another dumbass Rockstar sandbox game 6. Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (never played it so i cant judge it) WHAT?????????? there is better wii games to put in the goty category just like others said, Super Mario Galaxy 2.. Typical anti-Nintendo snobbery. Only Epic Mickey gets recognition, and that's a shoddy game, not even in the top 10 Wii games of the year. Galaxy 2 has the highest metacritic of any game this year, but it seems no site has the balls to place it as GOTY.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 should definitely be on the best multiplayer of the year category on all of these game awards shows. It was better than half of the games on their, not to say that they're bad, bfbc2 is just a really good game.

Interesting choice for the token Nintendo game as GOTY. It's a bit silly announcing the GOTY nominees, 'cause it kinda makes the genre categories a bit obvious who's gonna win. Interesting no graphics award, but rather animation and art direction. I hope Naruto wins for animation. Would be nice to have something different win something. Also it shoulda been in the best fighter category, if nothing else but to make up the numbers. At its core it's a fighting game and there's only 3 nominated games when the field is open to up to 6 games. Actually just noticed the category is "best fighting" not "best fighting game" so like platforming games it doesn't actually get a genre category. Would be cool to have a sports game win GOTY, but somehow I doubt that's gonna happen, so NBA2K11 is another token entry.

guys get real! Wii games are leagues behind HD competition. And this is about art and innovation, not commercial sucess. It's good to see Japanese games here after the pro-Western VGA, espacially Bayonetta.
