Ace Attorney Investigations 2 Formally Announced
by Nicholas Taylor, posted on 09 September 2010 / 1,852 ViewsToday, Capcom opened the official site of a new title - Gyakuten Kenji 2, known to people outside of Japan as Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth 2. Granted, the game hasn't been confirmed for a western release yet, but given the cult popularity the series has shown, it is highly unlikely that it would stay exclusive to Japan.
The official site grants some preliminary details as well as a few screenshots. Miles Edgeworth is back to helm the sequel, and series mainstay Dick Gumshoe will still be present as well. Kay Faraday from the previous game, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is set to return as well.
This time, the story kicks off at Gourd Lake, a location that people who played the first game in the series, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney should be more than familiar with. It seems that a speech is about to take place, with a stage being set up on the lake and video cameras on standby.
A crime takes place here, but Capcom have yet to say anything about exactly what happened, so we'll have to wait for further details.

The System section of the site explains how the game will work, which is very similar to it's predecessor.
Investigation - Investigate the crime scene together with your current partner. On the site, Edgeworth can be seen investigating the Gourd Lake enviroment together with Gumshoe.

Logic - Logic, which was introduced in the previous game, is where you combine pieces of evidence you've found and draw logical conclusions to create new pieces of evidence, or events.

Battle - Often, after finishing part of the investigation, you will get locked in battle with someone related to the crime, much like in the previous game. This is where you need to spot their contradictions to get additional evidence.
It is also mentioned that a new system will be present in the game as well. In the official reveal of the game in this week's Famitsu, they said that a keyword for the new system is "chess". A screenshot on the official site also shows Edgeworth with a chess piece.
Gamers will get a chance to sample the game at Tokyo Game Show 2010 next week, since Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth 2 is scheduled to be present at Capcom's booth, in playable form. Anyone who samples the game will get a strap as a bonus goodie, pictured below.
