OverviewHalo: Reach (X360) continues to outpace every other game on the chart. Madden NFL 11 is in its last week before launch adding up over 100,000 more pre-orders across all 5 platforms. Kinect games are starting to creep up the charts with 13 weeks until launch.

Games in final week before releaseMadden NFL 11 is the only game in its final week before release, however there are 5 versions in the top 50. The top version is for the PlayStation 3 with 366,000 total pre-orders, followed closely by the Xbox 360 version with 321,000. Going down the charts the Wii version is next with 88,000 pre-orders. It is one of the last series to make an impact on the PlayStation 2, with total pre-orders of 33,000. The PSP version is last with 24,000 pre-orders. This adds up for a total of 832,000 pre-orders for all versions combined.

Other Hot Games

Halo Reach VS CoDMW2

Halo: Reach (X360) adds another 139,000 pre-orders this week, more than any other game on a single platform. It reached 912,000 total pre-orders and as predicted the previous week it passed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (X360) during the same week by 37,000. Halo: Reach is now on track to become the biggest game during its first week on the market on a single platform.

GT5 americas preorders

Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) pre-orders slow slightly for a second straight week adding only 6,000 pre-orders for the week, for a total of 137,000. As pre-orders slow the game may not be as big as previous games in the series.

Metroid: Other M Americas Preorders

Metroid: Other M (Wii) hits 100,000 pre-orders on the week with 8,000 new pre-orders. With 4 weeks left until release expect total pre-orders by release to hit 150,000. Since Wii games aren’t pre-ordered as heavily as other systems expect first week to be several times bigger than the pre-orders.

Also in the top 10 is Call of Duty: Black Ops, which adds another 40,000 pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions combined with 14 weeks until release, for a total of 466,000 pre-orders for the game. Medal of Honor adds another 38,000 pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version combined, for a total of 447,000, with 10 weeks left until release. Fallout: New Vegas adds another 36,000 pre-orders for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions combined, for a total of 331,000. Final Fantasy XIV Online (PC) rounds out the top 10 on 8,000 new pre-orders for a total of 124,000 on the PC version, and a combined total with the PS3 version of 146,000.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: Fable III (X360) passes the new World of Warcraft expansion to take the 11th spot. It adds another 14,000 pre-orders and passes the 100,000 mark for a total of 106,000. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (PC) also passes the 100,000 mark adding another 4,000 pre-orders. Kinect Adventures! (X360) which comes bundled with Kinect is starting to rise up the chart with 13 weeks left until release. It adds another 7,000 pre-orders for a total of 34,000.

@halil23

You're either doing a hilariously good parody of a hardcore PS3 fanboy or you need to reassess your priorities in life.

halil23 (on 12 August 2010)

The amount of GT5 hate here is sad, but nowhere near as sad as seeing reach #s anyway!
Really, medal of honor & dead space 2 higher on xbox than PS3! Seriously? Isn't people aware that ps3 is the definitive version as both game has an extra game for FREE!! Has people forgotten E3 already?!?
Good to see madden higher though... :-p

trunkswd (on 12 August 2010)

@ljlrj
Yes it does count. All versions of the game no matter what they come with is still Halo Reach.

ljlrj (on 12 August 2010)

do they count legendary edition for halo reach :) cause that me:)

ryank3mp (on 12 August 2010)

Wish EA would just announce the Dead Space 2 SE already, then that 44,000 would soon include me!

Stefan.De.Machtige (on 11 August 2010)

GT5 has simply taken too long. To many small updates and a string of possible launch-dates make the public very wary - even uncaring. And at the same time others racers came on the market.

Pretty sad for Sony. It's their best IP, and their best casual-type game. They should have launched it with the slim. It would have sold like mad.

ChichiriMuyo (on 11 August 2010)

Rather pathetic numbers for Kinect. It may do much worse than I expected.

DuckmanR10 (on 11 August 2010)

Almost 1mil for Reach. That is as expected.

flacomeza (on 11 August 2010)

I feel sorry for GT5. Really...do we need a game of that scale? Is it necessary 5 years of development? Only hardcore gamers are gonna appreciate it. This game will flop in sales...compared to what it could have sold 2 years before and with ONLY 70% of what it has.

coolbeans (on 11 August 2010)

@Killiana1a
Rage isn't even a racing sim so that can't be compared with GT5. I'm pretty F1 Champ is the only other racing sim happening around GT5.

welshbloke (on 11 August 2010)

Would I be right in assuming the Kinect Adventures Pre Orders are a direct corolation to Kinect Hardware preorders?

Wandamaximoff (on 11 August 2010)

GO HALO REACH!!!!!

i aint even preorded mine yet.... MUST say here in the UK MW2 was discounted at launch it retailed for lower than most games and was no where near full price on the first 2 weeks... looks like halo reach is going to make a LOT of money.

GT- Meh... do people really have time for such a HUGE game? forza was big enough if you ask me GT looks boring...

with online gaming people are playing older more fun games for longer...

Cueil (on 11 August 2010)

imagine if EA had put out the 360 MoH beta on time... they may even have had a shot a doing the same general numbers as CoD: BO

Killiana1a (on 11 August 2010)

People keep on talking about the GT series having legs. How would those knees respond to ID's FPS/racer Rage? I believe Rage would seriously cripple one or both of GT5 long selling legs.

kain_kusanagi (on 10 August 2010)

GT5 has an uphill battle on it's hands. The series has been gone for too long and people have found other racing sims to satisfy their need for speed. When the series peeked with GT3 it was the only high quality racing sim on the shelf. But now there is Forza, Shift, Dirt, and more. GT5 is going to sell well to die hard GT fans but it's not goig to pull in as many casual racers as it used to, not with established quality alternatives already in people's homes.

Rafux (on 10 August 2010)

GT 5 pre-orders are pathetic

elmerion (on 10 August 2010)

Wii games dont get much preorders, that is a fact. Why are we still getting this question so deep in this generation?

Lyrikalstylez (on 10 August 2010)

HELLZ YEA, I WILL BE SO HAPPY WHEN I SEE HALO:REACH TOP MW2 IN FIRST WEEK SALES!!!!
When this happens, Let Us Never make this mistake again!!
Long Live Halo!!!!

trunkswd (on 10 August 2010)

@Salnax
Wii games don't get the same numbers of pre-orders as the PS3 and 360, so its first week should see a bigger jump between its final total of pre-orders and its first week sales, than a PS3 or 360 game.

Salnax (on 10 August 2010)

Is anybody else a tad bit disappointed with Metroid?

disolitude (on 10 August 2010)

@Baalzamon

MOH had a public beta, Black ops didn't. Hence why all those preorders are there...

Baalzamon (on 10 August 2010)

I have to say, considering Medal of Honor stopped producing games for a while, I'm extremely surprised that combined, MoH preorders are actually higher than Black Ops preorders, even though it is a 4 week difference between the 2 for release date.

Reach (on 10 August 2010)

Kinect Sports will do big :D

binary solo (on 10 August 2010)

LBP2 in 33rd position on the chart, but has the 13th biggest change for the week. With 15 weeks still to go for release it's looking like it will do very well in holiday sales.
