Nintendo's latest video game console, the Nintendo Switch 2, has outsold the lifetime sales of the Nintendo GameCube, according to VGChartz estimates.
The Switch 2 has sold an estimated 22.09 million units, while the GameCube sold 21.7 million units lifetime.
Up next for the Switch 2 is the original Xbox, with 24.65 million units sold lifetime, followed by the Atari 2600, with 30.00 million units sold, and Nintendo 64, with 32.93 million units sold.
Breaking down sales by region, the Switch 2 has sold an estimated 6.96 million units in North America, 3.54.94 million units in Europe, 6.30 million units in Japan, and 3.88 million units in the rest of the world.
This compares to the GameCube, which sold 12.55 million units in North America, 4.44 million units in Europe, 4.04 million units in Japan, and 0.71 million units in the rest of the world.
Further breaking down Switch 2 Europe sales, the console has sold an estimated 1.06 million units in the UK, 1.01 million units in Germany, and 0.95 million units in France.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched worldwide in June 2025, while the GameCube launched in Japan in September 2001, in North America in November 2001, and in Europe in May 2002.
