Revenue for Steam hit an estimated $1.5 billion in 2014, according to market data firm SuperData, who provided the information to The Know.

In 2014 Valve made $730 million in revenue from its own games, including DOTA 2, Team Fortress 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Those three games are estimated to have made more than $400 million combined in revenue last year.

Valve also takes a 30 percent cut from the sale of each game sold on Steam.

Wow that is so much lower than I thought it was. Not counting Valve games that's only 770 million from every other game not made by Valve on Steam for the year. A bunch of publishers made more than Steam. Had no idea publishers like Namco are doing that well.

Valve doesn't release it's sales/revenue figures. These are all estimates made by non Valve people. It could be much higher.

LoL makes Riot half than that. Better get that DOTA 2 to make more money fast.

Just remember that "The Know" themselves said that this isn't 100% concrete since Valve themselves doesn't release their own data so it is "less reliable" and it's all Estimates. Now with that being said, I wonder how that fairs against psn/xbl so someone post that please if you have it.

Don't got one for 2014 but for 2015 so far Sony computer Entertainment is at around 10 billion Euros, Xbox 7.30 Billion Euros, Nintendo 4 billion Euros and a lot of publishers are right behind like Activision, EA, Namco at 3.40, 3.40, 2.10 billion Euro respectively.

Thanks! Is that psn/xbl only? And does it also include ps+/xblg?

You can't be serious. Stores themselves take some percentage from the games and then you have Sony and maybe even other people taking them. I can guarantee that it's much higher on consoles than on PC.
