Reggie: Iwata Didn't Apologize Over Nintendo's E3 Direct

Reggie: Iwata Didn't Apologize Over Nintendo's E3 Direct - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 18 June 2015 / 4,344 Views

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has stated that Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata in his Tweet did not actually apologize to fans over Nintendo's E3 Direct.

Reggie Fils-Aime said the following:

"It was not an apology. It was not a statement about the content we're showing, essentially it was an 'I hear you' message.

Mr. Iwata is in Japan and what he's trying to do is help explain to consumers in Japan what's going on at E3. The correct translation of his message was: 'Thank you for your feedback. We hear you and we are committed to continuing to meet your expectations,' was essentially his message."

Thanks Polygon.

Don`t really know what purpose this served. It just makes Reggie look foolish, as well as Nintendo in general...

Regardless of what point he's trying to make, using this ''we know what we're doing, wait and see'' argument every time they make a bad move is quite arrogant and not doing them any favours.

This is like when he said fans were ''insatiable'' after they announced NSMBU instead of 3D Mario. Sometimes he can be really cool and he obviously likes his job but when he aggresively counterargues everything from NoJ's perspective it comes off as very dismissive of fan complaints. Please, Reggie, at least a bit less PR and more honesty...

Honestly, I knew that Iwata wasn't actually apologising for the direct. Simply for the disappointment and I am surprised that people did not know the difference for the two. Nintendo showed their releases fromm now to early 2016. They stated they were not going to talk about the future of Nintendo and the NX. So in reality Iwata had no reason to apologise regarding the direct and any Nintendo fan should have known in advance that this E3 showing was going to be weak. This is a "fact" they should have accepted prior to E3.

So no Iwata was not apologising for their E3 direct. He was apologising for the disappointment surrounding the show and took note on what people liked and did not like regarding the games. The feedback will likely be vital in choosing the future of certain titles and NO they are not going to be cancelling games like Metroid: Federation Force. As a huge Metroid fan I am glad they are pushing this game in the faces of the self-entitled fucks who claim to be Metroid fans. The Galactic Federation is a HUGE part of the Metroid universe that needs to be deeply explored. Another is the character Sylux, one who will likely be elaborated on in the next Metroid Prime 4 or whatever they name the game.

Nintendo is in such a bad place right now and they apparently have no clue what to do. I fear nothing is going to change until Iwata leaves and I fear that will not happen. How can you run an awesome company like that into the ground so bad and still have a job?

Is this a joke?
Nintendo really needs to make an apology direct now and actually announce the actual games that nobody knows about like Devil's Third.

Yes, it is third party but besides some people who are constantly looking for news, nobody would know about this game.
We knew about Mario Maker, Xenoblade X and Yoshi and already have seen more than enough footage already.

The only thing that was actually good was that there is finally footage from Star Fox and I know the 3DS is Nintendo's main seller, but they need to show more Wii U games since that is the system that needs the most support.

I'm sorry Reggie, I just... I just don't like you. I've never liked you. It's not even your fault. But every time you open your mouth, I have to wonder if you know what a videogame is.

Don't know what's worse, the fact that he's not telling the truth, or the fact that he's out of touch with the fans.

That's like someone spilling mustard on your favorite shirt and then say "I acknowledge this bad situation but i'm not sorry." Now obviously you're going to drop kick this fucker in the face right?
