Is Young Justice Legacy the Game Fans Deserve? - Preview/ 2,440 Views
Young Justice was a show about the DC universe sidekicks going on undercover missions while the Justice League battled the much more public threats. Does that sound awesome? Did you notice the use of the word "was"? See, Cartoon Network cancelled the show after its second season. Why? Low toy sales. Yeah, not because the show was bad or had low ratings, but because hunks of plastic weren't leaving the shelves fast enough.
But cancellation isn't stopping developer Little Orbit from finishing up Young Justice: Legacy and releasing it September 10th on PS3, 360, Wii U, PC, and 3DS. The game is set during the five year jump between the first and second seasons of the show.
You will have 12 playable characters from the show including Nightwing, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Superboy, and so on. You will go on missions in teams of three and be able to instantly switch between them. You have your standard light and heavy melee attacks that are each unique to the power set of the different characters.
Sadly, I don't think this game is going to satisfy fans of the show nor is it going to help bring it back. As with all previews of non-finalized versions of games, things are subject to change. However, if I were to be completely honest this game (I played the Xbox 360 build), it feels like it stumbled out of a timewarp from the early PS2 era. The models look off, the hit detection is, well... hit-or-miss, and the camera has to be baby sat. These things can happen in early builds, but this is a game that has already seen a delay and is due out within four months.
This may just be another sad casualty of Cartoon Network's passion for killing franchises. I'll hold final judgement until the final build, but my nerd sense is tingling to warn me of danger on this one.
