Overview
There is one game in the top 40 to be in its final week: Madden NFL 15 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
Three games have 200,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week, and the top seven has 100,000 or more pre-orders, up from six last week. One game added 20,000 or more pre-orders, down from two last week and four added 10,000 or more, up from three last week.
Games in Final Week Before Launch
Madden NFL 15 (PS3) added 17,041 pre-orders for a grand total of 75,338. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 150,000 to 250,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 750,000 and 1,000,000 lifetime in the US at retail.
Madden NFL 15 (XOne) added 8,769 pre-orders for a final total of 55,321. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 100,000 to 200,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 750,000 and 1,000,000 lifetime in the US at retail.
Madden NFL 15 (X360) added 5,430 pre-orders for a grand total of 40,505. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 80,000 to 150,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 600,000 and 800,000 lifetime in the US at retail.
Major Performers in the U.S. – Week Ending August 23
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition (PS4) sales are expected to drop to around 25,000 units in its second week. The Xbox One version is expected to drop to around 18,000 units.
Tales of Xillia 2 (PS3) sales are expected to drop to around 20,000 units in its second week.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (PS4) sales are expected to drop to around 6,000 units in its second week on sale. The PlayStation 3 version is expected to drop to around 5,000 units.
Hardware and software sales are expected to increase for the majority of platforms, with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 getting the biggest boost due to Madden NFL 15.
Other Hot Games – In Order of Release
Destiny (PS4) added 21,879 pre-orders, down from 24,553 last week, for a total of 874,856. The Xbox One version added 14,574 pre-orders, down from 16,981 pre-orders last week, for a total of 710,041. The Xbox 360 version added 4,636 pre-orders, down from 4,706 last week, for a total of 293,753. The PlayStation 3 version added 800 pre-orders, down from 2,335 last week, for a total of 137,867. The game is three weeks away from launch in the USA, September 9, 2014.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (XOne) added 8,773 pre-orders, down from 21,419 last week, for a total of 117,881. The Xbox 360 version added 1,300 pre-orders, down from 4,491 last week, for a total of 93,440. The PlayStation 4 version added 1,629 pre-orders, down from 6,015 last week for a total of 69,526. The PlayStation 3 version added 659 pre-orders, down from 2,553 last week, for a total of 30,664. The game is 11 weeks away from launch in the USA, November 4, 2014.
Notable mentions: The Sims 4 (PC) added 5,584 pre-orders for a total of 111,541. Assassin’s Creed: Unity (PS4) added 12,459 pre-orders for a total of 72,209. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PC) added 8,809 pre-orders for a total of 38,390.
Requests: Super Smash Bros. U (WiiU) added 1,397 pre-orders for a total of 27,972. Hyrule Warriors (WiiU) added 2,834 pre-orders for a total of 27,449. Freedom Wars (PSV) added 1,428 pre-orders for a total of 14,294.
