by William D'Angelo , posted on 06 April 2012 / 9,465 Views

Overview

There are two games in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch, Kinect Star Wars (X360) and Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii). The Pro data is back up, which means that I will start taking requests again.

The top four games have 200,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week, and the top nine has 100,000 or more pre-orders, up from eight last week. One game added 20,000 or more, the same as last week and two add 10,000 or more, the same as last week.

Games in Final Week Before Launch

Kinect Star Wars (X360) added 4,620 pre-orders in its final week, for a grand total of 234,252. There is also a limited edition Xbox 360 that comes with the game bundled, which will add some sales to its first week. First week sales in the USA should be in the 325,000 to 400,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 1 million units and 1.5 million units in the USA by the time it is done selling. This is also the first Star Wars game for the Kinect. LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is the most recent Star Wars game to be released on the Xbox 360.

  • LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (X360, 2011) – 83,399 week one USA, 401,858 to date

Xenoblade Chronicles Pre-orders

Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) added 18,798 pre-orders in its final week, for a grand total of 187,091. First week sales in the USA should be in the 200,000 to 275,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 750,000 units and 1 million units in the USA by the time it is done selling. This is the only game in the series, but it was first released in Japan in June 2010.

  • Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii, 2010) – 82,083 week one Japan, 158,988 to date
  • Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii, 2010) – 25,758 week one Europe, 168,514 to date

Major Performers – Week Ending April 7

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 second week sales should be at a combined 40,000 with the sales being evenly split between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Mass Effect 3 sales are expected to drop to around a combined 50,000 in its fourth week on sale. The Xbox 360 version is expected to sell around 35,000, while the PlayStation 3 version is expected to sell around 15,000.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sales are expected to remain flat for another week. The Xbox 360 version is expected to sell around 55,000, while the PlayStation 3 version should sell around 30,000.

Hardware sales are expected to have a very tiny drop and should remain relatively flat through most of May.

If Xenoblade reaches the million mark I'll be fappy and proud. The game deserves it!! Here in Europe the bad distribuition ruined the chance to sell good

Request: The Last Story.

BTW I doubt Xenoblade will sell 750k in Americas total. The game will likely sell extremely frontloaded because of the type of game it is and because of the way it got localized.

Being GameStop exclusive doesn't help, either. I'd say it'll sell 500k in the Americas.

I dunno, gamestop has a huge market share, I don't think that's the issue. Just with only 180k and 160k sales in Japan and EMEAA, I have a hard time seeing this game sell over 500k in Americas. P.S. I bought the game yesterday, and it's freaken awesome......I hope it sells well, it really deserves to.

I really want to believe those numbers, Go Xenoblade!
BTW: Request The last Story & Pokemon conquest!

I also think Xenoblade won't reach 750K. As was mentioned by Michael-5, these types of games are usually front-loaded. Also, these are the dying days of the Wii. You don't typically have great or prolonged sales when a console is puttering out and it's successor is coming up.

Go Xenoblade!

It'll be interesting to see just where it folds out in sales, and how far off (if they were) the pre-orders are for the game...

I expect 500k LT in America, so around 900k WW. VERY good for a niche JRPG on a 'dead' console for kids ;-)

Say whaaaat!?

I only have The Witcher 2 for X360 pre-ordered out of this list. I would have thought Assassins Creed 3 would be ranked higher. Who the heck is pre-ordering Garfield Gets Real?

I think 2010 game like Xenoblade regardless of quality should not expect to sell much unless it releases at a time with not much else releasing.

I don't think Xenoblade will pass over 500K. It is a niche game and thus, the sales should be front loaded, unlike other Nintendo games. Furthermore, as the distribution is limited to Gamespot, most of the less informed audience will miss it. Anyway, it should sell good enough to embarrass Reggie and his strategy of releasing only well established franchises and family games.
