American sales just passing the Japanese ones this week. Great to see this game selling so well, depressing here in Euroland... no advertising for the game and was looking for it in gamestop only to find a single copy tucked behind a reduced copy of the sims 3.... I feel bad for my region.

It is very important, that this game jumps over the million-milestone. The more third-party-games show a success, the more core games we get. Personal I'm not interested in the franchise, but I hope it will have some legs.

This is by far the best kingdom hearts I played ever. The available demo does not bring the game justice. The visuals are the best of the series esp considering the 3D aspect.

SunofKratos posted 18/08/2012, 08:37
So ahve played it now several hours and i must admit that it is by far the worst Kindom Hearts ive played yet. Dont get me wrong its still a great game but by far not as good as KingdomM herats 1+2 and Birth by sleep. What we really need is Kingdom hearts 3 to bring the series to a new level.

The sales are good so far and this game catch to a younger audience so i think 1,5 million is without question when all is said and done. This will sell good in Christmas time.
Message | Report
Salnax posted 18/08/2012, 04:12
1.5 million still isn't out of the question. This game will chart for a couple more weeks thanks to natural legs and the XL, and then we have another 5 years of life for the 3DS. Remember, over half a million 358/2 Days sales came after 2009, and even BBS got 300,000 sales after 2010.

NoirSon posted 17/08/2012, 03:37
Figured the NA KH fans would still support the franchise with this release. Don't know if 1.5 mill life time is still an option (some of the reviews tried killing the game because it followed the formula of KH in story telling) but I expect 0.8 to 1 million.

@ganoncrotch It doesn't disappoint. It's a great game and is one of my favorite 3DS games to date. In terms of story, it is very crucial. I say this because it's more like Kingdom Hearts 3 Prologue or how like Chain of Memories is important before you played 2. You can't play 3 without playing this game or understanding it's story.

Ganoncrotch posted 04/08/2012, 02:07
this game looks damn nice, probably one of the best on the 3ds but yeah agree entirely people now just want a kingdom hearts 3 not more spin offs. This will prolly disappoint since it doesn't push the story on much just confuses more than anything else.

Iveyboi posted 03/08/2012, 01:39
Bought it day 1. Sadly I am a little disapointed so far. The Drop system is annoying. I feel like I'm playing the same area twice and rushing through them so I don't have to switch back and forth. The fact that I am let down is indicative that Kingdom Hearts 3 is needed and not more spinoffs

People seem to overestimating userbase. Look at GoW III, it sold much more than the previous 2 titles wich waaay smaller userbase. Look at 3DS sales in Japan, seems like everybody plays on that thing while PSP was like 5-6 years old when BBS released. I'm not saying the sales are bad, I just expected a bit better.

@girgosz you are talking about a psp game that had 2 different releases and been on sale for close to 3 years now and saying it's bad that it sold 3 times more on a system that has 4 times the number of units sold than the 3ds in the first month of release?

Pre orders keep better for this. Its now up from around the 10k a week to nearly 15k this week, mputting the total at 84k. With five weeks to go this could easily end up at 150k pre orders.

If current pre order trends continue innthe us for thisnthen it will end up at around 130k, which could potentially mean an opening week of 200k for this one. I do have my doubts over pre orders though as this site completely overtracked the pre orders for resi revelations.

@phantomLink i could see others getting tired, but these are KH games, they have long dev. times. BBS, 358days and Coded were announced a long time before they actually release, so wouldnt that leave people more than enough time to get these systems to play the game?? Judging from the sales of BBS and 358(not so much ReCoded, but even that was a port) i say yes, I would chalk this up to possible series fatigue or not enough 3DSs

Ahm no. 358/2 Days FW was 290K in Japan, the same that DDD has sold in 5 weeks. VGChartz and MC both have 358/2 LTD above 500K.

NoirSon posted 09/05/2012, 05:45
Actually, these sales are doing better then the normal portable KH on a Nintendo have done in the past in Japan. Majority of the sales for KH games are outside of Japan and aside from Birth by Sleep and the two console games, none of the games in Japan ever got 500k. This is almost 300k in a few weeks and once released internationally it will probably do at least 1.5 million.

Yeah but not only "true fans" buy games, maybe the "true fans" already buy it and others got tired of the franchise, it happens . In my opinion KH3D is underperforming but no one should have expected BBS numbers in the first place. KH3D failure in Japan is a combination on different things, one of them being the series being split in almost every system, for example I'm a Tales of fan but I'm not gonna get a console every time Namco decides to put a new game in a different system. Of course that's not the only reason for this bomba but it sure had an effect.
Message | Report
oniyide posted 29/04/2012, 07:35
that doesnt make alot of sense, if your a true fan of the series, you already know which game is set in what time period, features, etc. If the names really confuse you, then your not a true fan to begin with, IMHO

@oniyide. Because SE is releasing different KH games in too many platforms. DS, PSP, 3DS. And the name is somehow confusing. In my opinion the next KH should be on 3DS since SE already released one for it, or multi-platform PS3/Wii U.
