Absolutely everything you love/hate about anime is encapsulated in the minute-and-half trailer for Grand Theft Auto 4: The Ballad of Gay Tony's fake in-game television show "Princess Robot Bubblegum!" Hitting each and every anime stereotype in the book (is that an oxymoron?) the 'show' follows a mature woman abandoned in the Japanese countryside by her dead ninja parents, and after being adopted by a lonely master spends her days pondering why she must always wear skimpy outfits when training. Watch as she fights an alien armada, all while getting drunk on sake and battling bad translations and dubbing.
Yeah, "Princess Robot Bubblegum" is all that and more, and for the uninhibited, here's the full (fake) trailer for Grand Theft Auto 4: The Ballad of Gay Tony's in-game anime show, "Princess Robot Bubblegum". Knock yourselves out.

Sort of Anime-ish. Anyhow Ill give Rockstar props for trying. I mean this is just one little aspect of the game and they put a lot of thought in to it. Cant wat to play this next DLC.
Yeah but not all anime stuff is like that or even drawn that way.
Actually manga the comics are really diverse even the art style.
Seinen manga has some amazing stories and writing. I LOL @ people who think RPGs or Metal Gear are good Japanese stories.People in the Japanese game business are not talented story writers if they were they write a manga or a novel.
I say go read some manga especially something like 20th Century Boys or many others.
Its easy to pick on cliches and they exist in many forms of entertainment like American tv shows have law or crime shows on network tv which are pathetic and in large quantities pumped out but for the tons of bad and lame shows they are some real nice gems for shows in the crime/law genre there is The Wire,OZ,The Shield,Dexter,Breaking Bad,Damages for that genre.
Just like for a bunch of lame animes there are gems.

ROTFLMAO...that is so freaking funny and true...I've been on trains in Japan before, and just scratched my head as to how grown men can get into some of this stuff...no diss, just no cultural reference to understand the facsination.
that was actually pretty funny. i like a lot of anime shows, but i do notice that the cliche's are sometimes more prevalent than i would like them to be
