This monthly series compares the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

In November 2025, the gap grew in favor of the combined sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when compared to the aligned launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the last month by 0.95 million units.
In the last 12 months, the PS4 and Xbox One has sold 6.14 million units more than the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are currently behind by 12.7- million units.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in their first 61 months sold a combined 120.23 million units, while the PS4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 132.93 million units. Month 61 is November 2025 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while for the PS4 and Xbox One it is November 2018.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sold a combined 175.16 million units lifetime. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are 54.93 million units behind lifetime sales of the PS4 and Xbox One.

It'll be interesting to see how much GTA 6 shrinks the gap after it finally releases. I doubt it will close the gap though.
wow I really love this chart. It shows that dispite the Xbox being down.... the total market has actual not fallen that much and it is really completely mitigated when you consider that Nintendo is gaining 3rd party support. It also shows that consoles are selling better now than in the PS360 days. its really gonna come down to what PS5 can do to close the gap on the PS4. The year is critical. GTA 6 is critical. While id doesn't look like PS5/Series can beat PS4/One... they are being given the best possible opportunity to stage a comback this November. And even if its not a comeback it should at least keep the gap from increasing.
