In the last 12 months, the PlayStation 5 has outsold Xbox Series X|S by 3.12 million units. The PlayStation 5 is currently ahead by 8.13 million units.
The PlayStation 5 has sold 24.54 million units in the US in 50 months, while the Xbox Series X|S sold 16.41 million units. The PlayStation 5 has a 59.9 percent marketshare (+2.1% year-over-year), compared to 40.1 percent for the Xbox Series X|S (-2.1% year-over-year).
The PlayStation 5 is currently 1.51 million units ahead the PlayStation 4 in the US when you align launches, while the Xbox Series X|S is behind the Xbox One by 3.93 million.

The Xbox is down gen over gen by more than PS5 is up gen over gen. Xbox really might not make it to 40 million and while both consoles were hit by the pandemic, it is clear that Xbox's problems are unique to itself. In fact when you include the Switch you find that there is no decline in console gaming. Its just Xbox and that faiure has been extrapolated to mean all of console gaming.
Chip shortage is helping Xbox a lot first 2 years. I can't imagine how much bigger gap now if PS5 always in stock.
PS5 has very consistent holiday sales, while Xbox's sales during November/December start to slow down, compared to the last years.
1.5 to 1 at this point.
