This monthly series compares the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

In July 2024, the gap grew in favor of the combined sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when compared to the aligned launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the last month by 51,585 units.
In the last 12 months, the PS4 and Xbox One has sold 3.57 million units more than the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are currently behind by 5.04 million units.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in their first 45 months sold a combined 89.80 million units, while the PS4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 94.84 million units. Month 45 is July 2024 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while for the PS4 and Xbox One it is July 2017.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 175.14 million units. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are 85.34 million units behind lifetime sales of the PS4 and Xbox One.

I think that current consoles have decent numbers. While many people say that "consoles are going away", in the reality they're still solid in terms of popularity. Probably they will go away in the long term and it feels like the peak of console gaming has already been left behind but the current results show that consoles will stay in the gaming race for a while.

It's still possible to buy standart PS5. Even if PS5P's sales will be 10% from all PS5's numbers, nothing is gonna change in this case. Sony as a big company nowadays is likely to have special divisions which can messure how popular are gonna be their products, movies, TVs and son on. They know that PS5 standart will be more popular than PS5P. Even PS4P which was cheaper was far less popular than PS4.
