Sony and Microsoft launched their next-generation video game consoles last month, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, respectively. The consoles quickly sold out and difficult to find in most markets as new stock sells out in a matter of minutes.

The PS5 sold around 107,000 units in France in its launch week, according to Ludostrie. This compares to the Xbox Series X|S, which sold about 37,000 units.

There are no exact comparisons to the last-generation consoles. However, the PS4 sold 240,000 units in France at the end of 2013, while the Xbox One sold 126,000 units.

The PS5 had the biggest console launch ever in the US, while the Xbox Series X|S had a smaller launch than the Xbox One.
