Worldwide Hardware Estimates for May 10 to 16 [Updated] - Sales

The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console worldwide with 373,459 consoles sold for the week ending May 16, according to VGChartz estimates. 

The PlayStation 4 was the second best-selling console with sales of 224,575 consoles sold. This was followed by the Xbox One with 89,252 units, and the Nintendo 3DS with 7,331 units. 

Nintendo Switch sales compared to the same week a year ago are up 208,522 units (126.43%). The PlayStation 4 is up 29,856 units (15.33%), the Xbox One is up 46,588 units (109.20%), and the 3DS is down 13,442 units (-64.71%).

If only Nintendo could produce more consoles the numbers would be much different. The Switch is nigh on impossible to find here at the moment. Covid might really hurt the lifetime Switch sales as I feel like 2020 was set up to be their year. With the new consoles coming 2021 might not be as lucrative for the big N as this year could have been....

Nintendo is increasing the production already, but it takes time for those to ship. But I think soon the first ones will hit the shelves and then sales will be way up again.

I think post covid there will be an insatiable hunger still for the Switch, but production will be up to speed again so demand shall be met.
