Head of Xbox Phil Spencer have revealed that nearly 50 percent of Xbox One owners have used backwards compatibility to play Xbox 360 games.

There is now over 300 Xbox 360 games that can be played on the Xbox One. The most recently added games include BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock: Infinite.

Oh boy, comments on this article are ridiculous. First people said its too late for BC and nobody wants to play old games. Now ~50% of X1 users is lower than expected? C'mon guys, a little credit where its due.

50% of users playing BC is a lot higher than I anticipated. I would be interested to know how many people purchased games from the BC catalog on their XB1 as opposed to carrying them over from their 360s. Its a no-brainer to me to utilize the BC where you already have the older games, and this cements (to me at least) that there is still a lot of user retention for the xbox family.

Great service. Great feature, this should be standard on new consoles.

That's impressive, considering how many of them are titles people probably already owned.

Not bad. I will definitely get an XboxOne if they support Vesperia, Ace Combat 6, and Lost Odyssey. Those are the only Xbox games i want to play.

I know that, but i still need Vesperia & Ace Combat 6. Just 1 game is not enough for me to get an XboxOne.

You may find this weird, but none of XboxOne exclusive games interest me, only those 3 Xbox360 games.

Realistically though Kodeindahjunk if it is just for those 3 games you would ever buy an xbox unit, why not consider just being an original X360?

If you already have an Xbox live account you should go over to the xbox store website (I can can message you the link if you want, or just google it) and add Lost Odyssey to that account right now, then if you do even just buy a X360 you can add that account onto it and you'll be able to freely download Lost Odyssey to it, I would really recommend doing this because I believe not only has the price of that game gone up physically but also as it is a multi disc game you wouldn't want to be looking at the pre owned market in case you got a version where a late disc is damaged.

I thought no body cares for BC. Well im glad i have the option. I packed up my 360 long ago.

That's because they have nothing else to play from Microsoft.

But wait! I thought Microsoft told us when flaunting the upcoming Xbox One console that nobody cares about backwards compatibility!
Microsoft, what gives? Gee, it's almost like the people in charge of marketing the Xbox One early on there didn't know what the fuck they were doing...

They didn't. Hence the entire team getting fired and replaced with the current one.

Started out as just a way of getting ahead of Sony, and then they found out much to their surprise "huh... turns out people do care about this shit after all!"

When your giving away free 360 games, I'd expect it to be much higher. Still not bad

My thoughts exactly and obviously this figure talks about just those xbox gamers who are actively online on xbox live and a great deal of those will have gold and have two x360 games pushed for free with gwg. Would almost be insulting to those games if people didn't download them

@Ganoncrotch - Have you considered many X1 users have 360 games both physically and digitally?

Still a lot but thought it'd be more.

You're among the people that assume people are just trying GwG releases and other free titles. But you forget many X1 owners had/have a 360 and games in their collection likely work on X1 BC. You want MS to give greater than detail than should be expected. MS said 210 million hours have been played between ~50% of the userbase (maybe 13 million users?). Hours spent using BC will grow rapidly as the library grows.
