Microsoft Shutting Down Project Spark - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 16 May 2016 / 6,244 ViewsMicrosoft has announced it will be shutting down Project Spark. The game is no longer available to download and existing players have until August 12th until online services will be shut down.
In order to play user-generated content you will need to download it before the servers are taken offline.

"This was an extremely difficult decision for our team that we do not take lightly," said community manager Thomas Gratz. "When Project Spark transitioned away from active development last fall, many of our team members moved to other projects within Microsoft Studios. While this means there have been no layoffs at Microsoft, it also means it’s simply no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping Project Spark up and running with meaningful updates and bug fixes, so we have come to this hard decision.
"Despite this news, we want to celebrate the accomplishments of our team and community of creators and players. Our team released 46 content packs, thousands of assets and 16 updates since launch (averaging more than one update every two months). We produced hundreds of livestreams and videos to educate and celebrate our community. In turn, our passionate fans have then gone above and beyond supporting Project Spark by uploading hundreds of thousands of creations and dreaming up millions of objects, behaviors, and experiences. Outside the game, they created fan sites, tutorials, forums, apps, and more! We thank everyone who has played or created anything within Project Spark, as it would have never existed without you."
Anyone who purchased the Starter Kit for the game will receive a credit to their Microsoft account.

Sucks that it will no longer be available.
I really love some ideas about Project Spark, but it didnt work out. At the very least I dont understand why they dont keep it online but no more updates.
This teased Conker... then people instantly hated it, was DOA after that "if we want a new game, we have to build it ourselves" just.... nope.
This looked cool, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem bloody and violent enough to draw the kind of crowd to justify it's existence.
Not being violent was not this games problem...
This game had many problems, the fact that they figured it would have people creating games on it at the rate that people make stages in things like Little Big Planet a franchise that has been going for many years now was just hoping for people to use the tool to then make the tool worth buying.
LittleBIGPlanet was better and innovated the market.
I have to agree with you. More and more I am troubled by the xbox only gamers. I have all 3 consoles and enjoy them all but with xbox I feel like their core audience and base just has no taste to support games like this or other IPs. Not all of them by any means...but in my opinion a large majority play COD, Madden, and what other trendy game is going at the moment. Look at the support for ROTR...it was just poor at best. A game like this takes a large community that has a diverse gaming pallet. To me that is just not the xbox gamer in general.
