Blizzard Was Xbox's 'Top Performing Studio' in FY 2026 - News
by William D'Angelo , posted 1 day ago / 2,304 ViewsBlizzard President Johanna Faries in an email sent to employees seen by Windows Central revealed the first-party Xbox developer is the top performing studio at Xbox.
"In FY26 Blizzard ended the year as the top-performing studio in Xbox's studios division, and this past year has marked our third highest fiscal for top line revenue in Blizzard's history," said Faries.
Fiscal year 2026 is the first year Blizzard has seen growth in consecutive quarters since Overwatch launched in 2016.

"Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred and Overwatch drove exceptional performance in particular, with Overwatch delivering its strongest quarter since 2022," she said. This success will help them invest more in Blizzard games, employees, and other initiatives that will "shape Blizzard's future."
Faries on BlizzCon 2026, which will take place on September 12 and 13 in Anaheim, California said "the weekend will reflect the bold and collaborative work of everyone reading this. It's my hope that the event can shine a light on the work underway at Blizzard, and that it can serve as a powerful springboard into a new era of momentum and excitement behind our mission to bring joy and belonging for communities worldwide."

Didn't even release a game and people wonder why these companies want live service.
Blizzard games are generational.
We understand why they exist and most fail.
Exactly, we just wish companies would consider that out of the thousands of live-service games released over the past 10 years, maybe 10-15 have gone on to actually BE continuing live-service games with profits over time.
It would be like NBA teams going out and picking up random people for millions of dollars that are the same height as Stephen Curry, just for the 1% chance of hope they could actually PLAY like Stephen Curry and make them a winning team. It's just crazy the wasted money.
Isn't that kinda what they do already with drafts? They are essentially betting on the idea that the player they get is the next Curry, they even give them million $ contracts and well, 99% of the time they aren't.
But as the NBA teams get so much from TV rights, sponsors, merch etc, they can afford to keep trying.
Game studios don't know if their next attempt will be successful until it's out.
Yes, and it's why you see so many busts in the top spots. A high school kid who might be the next Luca or Kobe is worth far more than a guy that you know is going to be a solid player. It happens a lot in football, too, where players are drafted purely based on athletic potential instead of realized skill.
One smash hit can literally be worth more than two dozen mild successes. Just because people don't like it doesn't mean that it's not true.
Most single player games fail, too, but live service games can carry far more potential reward.
