Pokemon Red, Blue, Green and Yellow Sells Over 1.5M Copies on Vitrual Console - News

Nintendo has announced that the four classic Pokemon games (Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow) that are currently available on the eShop’s Virtual Console have now sold over 1.5 million units since their re-release.
Over half of the 1.5 million sales are accounted for by the American market. The Financial Results Briefing also notes that download codes from retail stores made up a large portion of the Japanese sales for these titles.

I don't see why Nintendo doesn't release its old games on iOS/Android for a few bucks...It can sell like hotcakes
Exactly what I been thinking.
Because if their software is available on other devices it lowers the reason people have to buy a Nintendo device, even more so if the 3rd parties have gone from them completely after the Wii-U. Nintendo games are needed to sell Nintendo systems, doesn't matter if it's old ones or new ones.

That's insane. Not even a remake....just the 20 year old games. See Nintendo, you have one dedicated fan-base. Quit screwing them over. Some BRAND NEW 1st and 3rd party games don't even get to sell half this much.

A kid I work with bought both Red and Yellow. I didn't know about Green being available.
Aye Japan got Red and Green and the western world got Red and Blue I believe, Yellow was in all regions as a version of the game which more closely followed Ash from the Anime through his journey.
Hmmmm weirdly after a fast Wiki it would seem that Blue did come out a few years after the originals in Japan and the artwork and code which got westernized was based on that game and not the original Red/Green releases. Gotta love Wiki.
Something tells me we're gonna see a LOT of Pokemon on the VC in the coming year
