Research Firm: People Who Pre-Order Spend Twice as Much on Games, Warns About Dissatisfaction - News

Research firm Kantar Worldpanel reports that consumers who pre-order video games spend about twice as much on gaming as those who don't.
However, the firm reports that there has been dissatisfaction among gamers over pre-orders is recent times. This is due to the varying retail exclusive pre-order bundles, the Splatoon stock that was stolen but never replaced, and the cancelled Batman Arkham Knight: Batmobile Edition.
"It is critical that retailers make the pre-ordering experience a positive one for consumers, particularly given how valuable these consumers are," Kantar’s UK strategic insight director, Fiona Keenan, told MCVUK. "In the last year they spent £235 on games, more than double that of the average games consumer – clearly any negative experiences should be avoided at all cost."
"Whilst the recent pre-ordering issues we’ve seen in the market may deter consumers from pre-ordering in the future, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll deter consumers from actually buying games," Keenan added.
Pre-orders currently bring in £145 million to the UK. 65 percent of pre-orders are made online and not through retailers.

That's why i rarely pre-order games. So many of them are either rushed, or just don't turn out to be as great as the demo shows it to be. I have 2 games pre-ordered for the rest of the year. The Uncharted Collection, and Fallout 4.
For me, it has to be a series I'm invested in and will try myself no question or has some physical item I particularly want.
I pretty order games from studios I trust. With that said, I'm generally happy with my pre-orders.
I pre-order pretty much most upcoming games that I want, and so far, I haven't been that burned like some people have. Sure, not every game meets every expectation I have for it, but that won't stop me from pre-ordering.
I always preorder my games. I don't get dragged back by the so called ''backlog'' a lot of gamers have since i buy 90% of my games day 1. Dont like it, get rid of it for the next one. The last year or so has seen a lot of abuse in terms of preorder bonuses/exclusive content especially with the PS4 games receiving more content. I'm only going to preorder MS exclusive games from now on, or games I really can't wait to get my hands on.
