Super Smash Bros. Universe on it's Way?

by Jake Weston, posted on 21 September 2011 / 2,198 Views

With the announcement of the Wii U, fans immediately wondered if Nintendo was planning a Super Smash Bros. follow-up, and what the name of the crossover fighting game would be. Now, it looks like we may have our answer.

In a post by Reddit user "Hector_Kur", there was an image for what is allegedly a leaked document from Nintendo, showcasing the next Super Smash Bros. title, dubbed "Super Smash Bros. Universe"

Unfortunately, no details concerning gameplay or release date can be uncovered from the image, and it is unknown if the document is even legitimate or not. However, considering Nintendo has had a Super Smash Bros. game for their last three home consoles, it isn't far out there to think that this is the next Smash title. Of course, I was almost certain that the next game would be called "Super Smash Bros. Showdown", so now it looks like I owe some people money.

What do you guys think of the title? What would you like to see in a new Super Smash Bros. game? Let us know in the comments!

You make it sound like they haven't announced that there's going to be a new Smash Bros. game on Wii U. If you listened to their E3 conference, they already said that there is going to be a Smash Bros. game for the Wii U, as well as the 3DS, but it won't start development until Kid Icarus: Uprising is finished.

Bring it on! Smash I love you. Making it online interactive would be sublime.

If they can get an online system that works pretty damn good, then the game will be a mega hit. A game of this genre needs a superb online system!

Seems legit for me , the Universe makes sense since Wii U will have a lot of games with a "U" like "U Play" "U Fit" or "Metroid Ultima" and so on :P

Super Smash Bros Universe... then Super Mario Universe... then Metroid Universe, and eventually Donkey Kong Universe...

The thematic nerd in me is disappointed that they may not continue with the subtitles of the NA sequels being named after conflicts. Although it does make sense since not many are still left that would make sense. And Super Smash Bros. Fray doesn't exactly roll off the tongue easy.

Well this is the third piece of news on it that I have seen so I would say yet. Even without the news I would say yes!

Just like with SSBB and the Wii, this game would be only reason for purchasing a Wii-U, seeing as Vita is bringing all of Wii-U's innovation to the PS3. This console seems like a waste of time at this point... Bring on the 720 and PS4, so the real gamers can have fun.

Blah. We shall see how much that Vita can replicate Wii U. Everything people are saying at the moment is guesswork. Other than that, grow up.

Every time someone uses the term 'real gamer', I know instantly that the person is an idiot.
