Lens of Truth: L.A. Noire Video Head-2-Head - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 17 May 2011 / 8,577 ViewsJust out today in North America, L.A. Noire is taking the video game world by storm with a soaring Metacritic review average of 91. Surely, many of you are ready to go out and grab your copy today, so we've once again partnered with Lens of Truth to bring you the down-low on which system you should be buying L.A. Noire on: PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.
As usual, first we've got some head-2-head screenshot comparisons of the game. PlayStation 3 is on the left, Xbox 360 on the right. Seems no matter which system you're on, the game is fairly dark. Be sure to check out the rest of the screen comparisons in the gallery below.

Normally, Lens of Truth provides us with a detailed breakdown of FPS and screen tearing, but they've been rather indundated with their own detailed screenshot comparison. Nevertheless, we still have the exclusive video head-2-head for you right here.
There you have it. Head-2-Head, which system do you think wins this heavyweight bout? More importantly, which console will you be getting L.A. Noire on?

Are tou seeing the same game as me??
The absence of SSAO and Light Reflections on 360 version is (more than) evident!
Virtually identical. Differences in quality between PS3 and XBox 360 are negligable. If I buy this (by no means certain) it will be on PS3 purely on the basis of the 3 discs on XBox 360. Essentially I'm a lazy mofo.
This game doesn't look that great in the first place. I'm gonna wait before i rush out and buy this game. I know looks aren't everything but it doesn't seem to be worth the $60
Shows that a good developer can make good looking multiplat games of almost equal visual merit. But are we seeing a pattern start to develop? PS3 lead platform tends to produce equal quality 360 version of the game (with some notable exceptions). 360 lead platform tends to mean the PS3 version takes a visual (and performance) hit (any known exceptions?)
This game looks great!!!!
PS3 SSAO makes all diference between the 2 versions.
Xbox version uses 3 discs???????????????
lol
Neither one looks all that great so why does it matter?
I don't see any different... and who's really care ?
I own a PS3 and apart from the reflection in the police car door i don't see any difference. It get much different results playing with the dark settings and brightness of my tv. The real difference is 1 Blu Ray vs 3 DVD. That proves the PS3 superiority!! :)
PS3's lighting is superior in every way. The 360 has less aliasing though.
This stupid shit reminds me of when they used to compare graphics for the PS2 and the original xbox. Yeah, nobody cared then either.
almost the same for me...
great face movements... the new tech really is noticeable...
ps3 is better but xbox is pretty close
So, this is the game who was compressed just to fit in 3 DVDs because it was a 6 DVDs game, and then, there's almost no difference between PS3 and 360 versions?
Then, how the fuck Square-Enix messed up with Final Fantasy XIII?
each time I see a "lens of truth" i see how little the difference is between xbox in ps3. OK PS3 shadows might be .05% better. or the draw distance might be 3 inches more... but if i never saw the ps3 version i would never say " why isn't this slightly better" for the 360 version
It looks really similar on PS3 and Xbox 360 I cant see any differences, it seems that Rockstar did a really good Job here and they brought the same quality on both Consoles.
Whats with the shadows at the beginning of the ps3 footage, that was weird, other than that, ps3 has some minimal details that make it look a little better but not that big of a difference.
Did they just say negro in this game? LMFAO
How did this get almost 3% better on the 360? It makes no sense
PS3 have reflections on cars (second picture with car door)
Other stuff seems the same.
i heard that ps3 have better performance than the 360.
As far as I am concerned, if you need to see the games RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER in order to tell a difference, then it is not enough to matter. Now if I was playing this game at home on my PS3, and went to my buddies house and saw it on his 360 and was able to notice it looked/ran like shit, then that is a different story.
It's the same. That's all I learn from stuff like this. 360 and PS3 basically have the same graphics for multiplatforms.
way better on ps3. Just look at the tesxtures of the roof when he picks up the gun. ps3 is complex while the xbox 360 is a blur.
Same
They looks the same to me. The only difference I can see is that the 360 version has better lighting and shadows in a few places. Other than that it doesn't matter which system you get it on, the game looks amazing.
In some scenes there are very slight differences. There really isnt enough difference to say one definitely wins over the other. In the beginning you can see slightly more reflection on the car in PS3 than x360. But throuout the video, especially around 1 minute look at the license plates. I can pretty much make out the letters on the x360, but the PS3 version looks fuzzy and the letters just look more like a blob of letters squished together. Each has pros and cons in different areas. But nowhere near enough to effect game play. Be honest guys. not much difference at all.
PS3 version is much better , Wow did not think there would be as much of a difference as there is.
@Iveyboi want to trade for the Xbox version? :)
Got my PS3 version :-)
Damn it I went and bought this for the Xbox at lunch.. :( I know it's not that big of a deal but would have much rather have the PS3 Version!
I wonder if cops really say things like 'Perp' and 'vic'. I know a couple from my kung fu class. One's a detective even. I'll have to ask him.
The only differences that I notice is that the PS3 has some details that the xbox version dont have . For example, when the lights reflects off the car, you can see it in the PS3 version but, you dont see it in the xbox version (19secs). Another thing that i do notice is that when the car is driving under the street lights, you can see the reflection in the ps3 but you dont see it in the xbox. Other than that the game seems to be identical.
L.A Noire for the xbox 360 is on 3 discs right?
