2011 Year on Year Sales and Market Share Update to March 19th - News

Here we see data representing the global sales through to consumers and change in sales performance of the three home consoles over comparable periods for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.  Also shown is the market share for each of the consoles over the same periods.




"Year to date" sales for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 sales are shown in series at the top of the table and then just below a comparison of 2011 versus 2009and 2011 versus 2010 is displayed.  This provides an easy-to-view summary of all the data.

- Down YOY 63k, Down YTD 8.95%
Playstation Portable - Down YOY 61k, Down YTD 27.32%

Nintendo

Nintendo Wii - Down YOY 111k, Down YTD 34.63%
Nintendo DS - Down YOY 137k, Down YTD 31.68%

Bad trend except for Microsoft. This generation is almost over. (HW sales, SW sales are very good)

Time for Nintendo to think about its next console, I guess we will see that during the E3.

Damn, 360 with Kinect only managing to slightly offset lower PS3 numbers, and just about equalise with the Wii, despite the Wii's huge drop. Industry not doing so well right now, looking at those sales.
