Overview – 2 games are in their final week before release. One game is over 1 million pre-orders, 4 games are over 500,000 pre-orders and 13 games are over 100,000 pre-orders. The Black Ops versus Modern Warfare 2 race is heating up.

Games in final week before release – 2 games are in their final week before release. The top game is Fallout: New Vegas which is for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The X360 version is the highest pre-ordered version, at 526,000 with 67,000 new pre-orders this week. The PS3 version adds 27,000 pre-orders this week for a grand total of 232,000. The PC version adds 15,000 pre-orders for a total of 128,000.

The Wii exclusive Kirby’s Epic Yarn is the only other game in its final week before release. The game adds 4,000 pre-orders for a final total of 62,000.

Other Hot Games – In order of release.

Gran Turismo 5

Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) has been delayed until sometime later in the 2010 holiday season, but Sony has assured gamers it will be out by the end of the year. Pre-orders pick up adding 12,000 this week for a current total of 226,000.

BO vs MW2

Call of Duty: Black Ops pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions combined reach a total of 1,778,000. For the second straight week the gap between it and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has shrunk. The gap is currently 266,000. With CoD: MW2 seeing its biggest increase with three weeks until release, the gap might be gone next week.

Epic Mickey

Disney Epic Mickey (Wii) adds another 7,000 pre-orders for a total of 74,000 with seven weeks left until release.

Also in the top 10: Fable 3 the Xbox 360 exclusive with two weeks until release sees the second biggest gains this week, adding another 88,000 pre-orders for a total of 571,000.

World of WarCraft: Cataclysm for the PC adds 30,000 pre-orders as it hits 411,000 pre-orders to date, with eight weeks until release. The game is on track to surpass 500,000 pre-orders in three weeks.

Kinect Adventures! adds 15,000 pre-orders this week for a total of 177,000. The game is currently three weeks away from release and has an outside shot of reaching 250,000 pre-orders.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood for the X360 and PS3 adds 33,000 combined pre-orders for a total of 336,000. The game is currently five weeks from release.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 adds 24,000 pre-orders for the X360 and PS3 combined. Total pre-orders stand at 252,000. Rock Band 3 adds 18,000 pre-orders for the X360 and PS3 versions combined for a total of 124,000. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit adds 23,000 pre-orders for the X360 and PS3 versions combined for a total of 118,000.

And why is everyone so surprised by Fable? It did over a million the first week for the last edition worldwide, 715k in Americas. It had good legs and has a lot of media coverage. Why wouldn't it grow a bit?

Fable 3 won't hit 800k pre-orders.

Nonetheless it is doing impressively. I really hope it can break one million world-wide week one, and maybe even two and a half by the end of the year? That last bit might be too optimistic.

GT5 is doing great in the US, it would be around 500-1million pre orders probably in EMEAA and NA.

Holy crap, in 2 weeks, a third of the bloody list will be coming out.

And nice Fable III numbers. I'll be interesting to see how close it can get to those magic '1m first day' numbers. Also, I hope Rock Band 3 falters as bad as Warriors of Rock. We need more innovation in the music genre.
