BIT.TRIP FATE Gameplay Trailer Shows "2-D Rail Shooting" Madness

by VGChartz Staff, posted on 04 September 2010 / 1,179 Views

Gaijin Games have just revealed the first gameplay trailer of BIT.TRIP FATE at a Destructoid LIVE PAX event, finally revealing the gameplay as a 2-D rail shooter that actually has visible rails.  The nunchuck moves Commander Video across the track (to another funky chiptune soundtrack), and the Wii remote or Wii Zapper points at the screen to control where the Commander fires.  Here's the trailer:

The game's website details that the game will include special guest appearances by Super Meat Boy and Mr. Robotube, as well as a guest appearance on the soundtrack by chiptune artist Minusbaby.  They've also decided to release the soundtrack before the game this time around.  You can preview or purchase it over at cdbaby.com.

As the fifth game in the six-part series, BIT.TRIP FATE will be bringing us closer to the climax of the BIT.TRIP SAGA on WiiWare this fall.  Some screens are included in the gallery below.

I DO like how they take a completely worn out gameplay mechanic and make it fresh again. Actually, I think it's bloody brilliant!

This doesn't look as interesting as the previous BIT TRIP games. Also, are they considering releasing all 6 games on dissc? I would probably buy that, because I haven't bought a single one on WiiWare (just the demo of BEAT).

@theprof00 Are you blind? Bullets do hurt him. The blinking character after getting hit is a classic thing that tells you that you are taking damage. Are you a complete noob?

theprof00 (on 04 September 2010)

@rubang well apparently bullets don't hurt you, so...

@theprof, BIT.TRIP games are casual? Wow, now I've seen everything. These are some of the most difficult games I've played in years.

It looks like the red dot inside the character is the hitbox, so it didn't look like the bullets hurt it, but it's hard to tell from that.

That actually looked really cool! :D
