Here we see data representing the global sales through to consumers, and change in sales performance, of the three home consoles over comparable periods for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.  Also shown is the market share for each of the consoles over the same periods.

"Year to date" sales for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 sales are shown in series at the top of the table and then just below a comparison of 2010 versus 2008 and 2010 versus 2009 is displayed.  This provides an easy-to-view summary of all the data.

The Wii, after several weeks of being down WoW, is now up by 32k. This is due to clearance stocks and the legacy deal and also bank holiday deals in the UK. It's not clear how long these sales will last, however it might save the Wii from falling to previous expectations of around sub 135k.

Wii:  DOWN year on year this week by 1k or -1% and DOWN year on year - year to date by -2.79%.

The PS3 benefited the least from Bank Holiday deals, and so dropped WoW by 2k. This is however where the slim effect kicked in last year, and the PS3 posts a 15k loss YOY this week. Expect a hefty 440k YoY loss next week, significantly cutting into its YoY gains.

PS3:  DOWN year on year this week by 14k or -9% and UP year on year - year to date by 44.57%.

The X360 dropped this week again by 5k, but had been undertracked as of late, so still hovers around the 200k mark. It's still posting very impressive YoY gains and shouldn't see any YoY drops over the coming weeks.

360:  UP year on year this week by 69k or 54% and UP year on year - year to date by 22.56%

Actually I now think PS3 can beat it's 2009 full year sales. PS3 got to 12.61 million in 2009 and its currently at 6.61 million, roughly speaking without a substantial game changing move like a price cut sales almost double from here to the end of the year. So 6 million for PS3 is doable for the final 4 months of the year. It's an average of 353K per week. PS3 2009 from here to the end averaged 472K so PS3 needs to average a weekly YoY decrease of less than 25% and it can make 2010 it's best sales year to date, and do it without a price cut. I think GT5 will help it get there. With the positive press Move is getting now I think move might help PS3 this holidays by 1% or so.

Brilliant. so 360 now up over 1m this year v 2009 and 1.6m v its best year thus far of 2008. 2010 will be the best year so far for the 360 and it is well deserved. 360 will be up the most in percentage terms and in real numbers by the year end easily.
