Capcom is Preparing for When the Resident Evil Remakes Run Out - News
by William D'Angelo , posted 5 hours ago / 821 ViewsResident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi in a recently published Japanese anniversary magazine said Capcom is already preparing for when the series of remakes catches up with the more recent releases.
"The current Resident Evil series is being developed along two tracks: the numbered titles allow players to experience the ongoing story of the series, while the remake series allows them to experience the past," said Takeuchi (via RE News).
"Someday, the remake series will catch up with the era of the numbered titles, and we are already thinking about what we will do when that happens. In fact, we have been gradually preparing for that since around Resident Evil Village. The appearance of names such as Umbrella and Spencer, as well as the return of Raccoon City in Requiem, are also in preparation for a crossover.

"One of the reasons we regard 7 as a turning point for the series is that it was also the title where we began working on this kind of setup. At first, we included these elements with the sense that they were fan service, but users were far more delighted by them than we had imagined, and they even began analyzing the thoughts that the development team had privately kept to itself. So, as a series, we decided to respond to users’ expectations and pushed this setup further in Village and Requiem."
The next Resident Evil remake, Resident Evil Code Veronica, will launch for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2027.
Resident Evil Code Veronica first released for the Dreamcast in 2000, while Resident Evil Code Veronica X released for the PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast in 2001, for the GameCube in 2003, and for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011.

RE 1 is due another remake to modernize it like the others.
That and Zero. Hell, I wouldn't mind a shot at 5 again, and maybe a complete recreation of the abomination that was 6.

Really sad these days when a company has to figure out what to do when they are done making remakes lol. Back in the day companies used to just make new games haha, now it's apparently just make new games when you run out of remakes.
Well they haven't stopped doing new games, Village and Requiem have both released since the first modern remake. I think when they say they are preparing for when the remakes end, they are referring more so to their financials. There has been almost one Resident Evil game per year since 2015 going up to next year, 2027, when Code Veronica remake is due to release, 8 singleplayer and 3 multiplayer Resident Evil games in 13 years. The only way they can keep up that kind of singleplayer output after the remakes end is if they go back to making singleplayer spinoffs again after the remakes dry up, or output new main series games faster.
After Code Veronica they can still remake 0, 1, 5, 6, and remaking the two Revelations games into proper main series sized games, if they choose to. Not sure if they plan to remake some of those, but I think they should remake them all personally. I know there is talk about them not remaking 5 and 6 and the Revelations games, but by the time Code Veronica, Zero, and 1 remakes are out, we would be in the 2030's, with Res 5 having released in 2009, Revelations 1 in 2011, Res 6 in 2012, and Revelations 2 in 2013, we'd be looking at 20 years remakes for each of them if released in the original release order, there are plenty of technological and gameplay enhancements in 20 years to make them worthwhile remakes.
They still have 1 and 0 to remake then i guess off to Dino Crisis.
We still have:
RE1, RE0, RE Rev1, RE Rev2, RE5, RE6
By then, RE7 and RE2 will be 20yo and they can start remaking all over again
RE1 was remade in 2002
RE1 absolutely does not count in the modern RE remakes bud
That was literally 17 years and 2 full console generations before we got RE2 remake
Its still a remake though, so if theres was a modern remake they’d be into the territory of remaking remakes.
Just pull a Star Fox 64 and keep on remaking the same games. Simple
create a new IP then
There are more games to this series than just the main numbered titles, where my rail shooters at?
It's time to remake Devil May Cry (1)
By remaking the remakes ofc
At this point it is really just RE 0 and 1 left to remake in the modern style. Though I guess they will eventually remake 5 and 6.
After Veronica, 0 is the only other one I'm really looking forward to. If they ever remake the first one again, I'll have interest. 5 and 6 never really did anything for me. Maybe a remake of the first Revelations one day.
5 and 6 not doing anything for you would be a pretty good reason to remake them
Imagine if RE5 was remade and was actually scary
