by William D'Angelo, posted on 30 August 2010 / 8,193 Views

OverviewHalo: Reach (X360) stays ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (X360), Metroid: Other M (Wii) jumps in its final week before release, and Kinect Advenutres (X360) hits 100,000 pre-orders. Also Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) sees a small increase week over week, which might be the start of an increasing pre-order change each week.

Games in final week before release

Metroid: Other M Americas Preorders

The week’s top game right before release is Metroid: Other M (Wii), as pre-orders soars to 29,000 on the week. This brings the game to a grand total of 152,000 as predicted a few weeks back. First week sales should be in the 275,000 to 325,000 range.

The only other game in its final week before release is Valkyria Chronicles II (PSP). The game had 3,000 pre-orders on the week for a total of 24,000. Expect first week sales in the 40,000 to 50,000 range.

GT5 americas preorders

LMAO @ Ping , dude don't be butt-hurt...the truth hurts and the holiday sales will prove it. The Move will be another disaster for Sony!!! Between the Wii and X360S w/Kinect there really isn't any reason for a Wii360 owner to pick up a PS3 at the moment!!! The PS3 is a great console it's just not revolutionary like the Wii and as powerful as the X360 that's all.

AnthonyW86 (on 02 September 2010)

I think a lot of people still doubtfull if GT5 actually will keep it's release date this time, pre-orders should pick up in a few weeks. The game will have great legs nonetheless though.

Ping_ii (on 01 September 2010)

LMAO!! here comes the Kinect is revolutionary!!!! god if only you know how stupid you guys sound.

oni-link (on 01 September 2010)

@Michael Of course the PS:Move is just a generic rip-off/copy of the Wii; nothing better, nothing worse. While the Kinect is totally revolutionary. Remember the old saying "an original will always be worth more than a copy". Hopefully, next generation Sony can finally come up with their OWN revolutionary idea like Microsoft and Nintendo!

oni-link (on 01 September 2010)

@Siko That would be the best case scenario, however if you take Japan into account...that won't happen. 1st week sales would be around 380K-420K WW and probably look something like this: Americas: 235K (1stW) Japan: ~70K (1stW) Others: 100K (1stW) My only hope is that it outsells MP:Corruption as I see this game a better Metroid overall and going back to it's roots per se.

Michael-5 (on 01 September 2010)

I like how Kinect pre-orders are compared to Move Pre-orders. It really makes the Move look bad, mainly because the Kinect is 8 more weeks to launch and has 4x the pre-orders as it is. I will laugh very hard if Move week one sales are lower then Kinect Pre-Orders at the time in Americas. P.S. I know the Move will sell better in Europe, but at best case I see the Kinect selling half as well their, and the Move twice as well, and thats still a strong sales difference in favor of Kinect. This holidays will be exciting.

Siko1989 (on 01 September 2010)

i say 550k worldwide for other m first week, it will be lucky enough to get 600k because of the huge hype it has?

oni-link (on 31 August 2010)

Glad Other: M is doing good. Hopefully we'll see FW sales of 250K or more!!!

Beuli2 (on 31 August 2010)

LOL wut Max Payne just got 700 negative preorders.

ljlrj (on 31 August 2010)

just pre-order ac brotherhood and h bbs

Mr Khan (on 31 August 2010)

Seems to be at least in line with Metroid Prime 3

menx64 (on 31 August 2010)

Good metroid numbers, I made my preorder yesterday at 11:40pm.... Hopefully 300K 1 week for america.... 500K 1week ww...

luvtospooge (on 31 August 2010)

Looks like Sony needs to start advertising GT5, cause it seems a lot of people have forgotten about it =/

Rawnchie14 (on 31 August 2010)

@ Silver-Tiger Some people had their fan goggles strapped on tight, cutting off the blood flow to their brains. GT5 will do good, but racers are not even in the same league sales wise as FPS's, especially one of the biggest FPS franchises ever.

Chrizum (on 31 August 2010)

@ guy below: cherry picking at its best!

adsl (on 31 August 2010)

Gran Turismo 5 -> 7,475 Just Dance 2 -> 9,336 The market has changed a lot in last 4 years.

Chrizum (on 31 August 2010)

First week Metroid sales should be around 225k max.

Barozi (on 31 August 2010)

Don't think Other M will open THAT high. Unless you're talking about WW.

Serious_frusting (on 31 August 2010)

Do people even know GT5 is coming out in the next couple of weeks? Everyone i have mentioned it to thinks the game got cancelled

Silver-Tiger (on 31 August 2010)

ok, does someone still thinks that GT5 can outsell Reach? There was a topic and people were all over: "Sure!, Of Course!, Always!" Looking at these numbers it seems more and more unrealistic. Not that it matters much, GT and Reach are different genres, but I can't understand how people could have believed that.

wanaraceu (on 31 August 2010)

I Hope GT5 does better i was expecting bigger numbers for that game although i would like to see Japan and total other pre-orders

PrimeBigTime (on 31 August 2010)

Since Kinect Adventures is bundled with Kinect and not available standalone for pre-order, I'm assuming that the pre-orders for Kinect itself is 100,000. Using the Kinect Adventures pre-order number is a good gauge of Kinect orders. I'm actually surprised it's not higher.

Wandamaximoff (on 31 August 2010)

Weldone halo reach! Thought it might dip bellow mw2 this week due to the spike! It's looking amazing though! It will be funny if the best selling halo game of all time doesn't have master chief in it! Lol Kinda ironic! I would like to see halo 3 vs reach preorders to see how the game has progressed. Kinects looking strong too! Impressive!

fwap (on 31 August 2010)

I miss being able to see the top 200 American preorders.

Siko1989 (on 31 August 2010)

good prediction vgchartz with other m

dejelek (on 31 August 2010)

GT5 head 2 head with Fable3,

binary solo (on 31 August 2010)

Article needs a bit of proof reading. I don't mean to seem overly critical, but we do want VGC to have a professional vibe to it, right? Naturally Black-Ops, like MW2, is going to show the power of multiplatness, as is MoH. I think, given the crowded FPS space it's trying to launch in, MoH is looking like it will have a pretty solid launch. Across PS360 it should easily have a >1 million launch week in Americas alone, and of course the PS3 platform has one less FPS for it to compete with. I think MoH will be an America's million seller on each console individually. So it's looking like a reasonably solid re-launch for the franchise into the "contemporary warfare" sub-genre.

I like Bacon (on 31 August 2010)

I hope Kirby, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and even Wii Party show up soon. I'm gonna pre-order Kirby and Wii Party today when I pick up Other M.

yo_john117 (on 31 August 2010)

Good read.

Attoyou (on 30 August 2010)

GT5 Will do fine!
