Square-Enix has stated that phase three of Final Fantasy XIV's closed beta ends on Wednesday, and it's time to open it up.

It was confirmed via their official Twitter today that they will be kicking off the open beta sometime in "early September," with no concrete date announced.

The game is being released next month worldwide for the PC, with the PS3 version following sometime during Spring 2011. As for the 360 version, it is still in limbo.

There's also been some new art, which shows the two different art styles of the game's promotional materials. Sadly, the pictures are rather small, but you should be able to tell the distinct differences regardless.

The one on the left is by Yoshitaka Amano, classic art designer for the Final Fantasy-series in general, while the one on the right is made by Akihiko Yoshida, the art director of Final Fantasy XIV. Which do you prefer?

Wow! Amano's art is absolutely beautiful. @Akibafan FFXIV will be way more profitable than XIII (i.e. it will not flop).

before i read the article i'll guess this , Amano is the one on the left (obviously) and the right one is Yoshida the guy who made Vagrant Story's and FFXII's i wish Amano's artstyle will make atleast ONE game in the series, i mean why is Square such a dick toward him ? hes one of the best modern day artists
