Mafia II Demo Is Up on Steam, PSN and Xbox Live

by Christian Witka, posted on 10 August 2010 / 2,119 Views

The Mafia II demo is now available on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. You can queue up for the Xbox Live demo here, and unfortunatelly, on the Playstation Network, the demo is only available for those with a Playstation Plus account.

The demo will allow you to taste the “vibrant, edge-of-your-seat action" and let you admire some of Empire Bay. You play a level called "Buzzsaw", where Joe and Henry are out to get a mob boss called The Fat Man. The demo takes place in “the summer of the 50s.”

The game is out for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this August 27. There's already a review of the PC version available here.

UPDATE: The demo is also available on Steam, right here.

Why were/are people saying that the demo's only available for PlayStation Plus subscribers? I checked both the Marketplace and Network back and forth to see who had it first so I could begin downloading as soon as possible, and PSN put it up first (I'm not a Plus member, and I didn't see it featured in the Plus section anyway). Anyway, I thought the demo was stellar. I've played it over a dozen times and I couldn't find anything about it I didn't like. Definitely whet my appetite, since I've been craving this game for years.

It rules. Played it on PC and it's so much better than GTA4. Story hooked me immediately, graphics are beautiful and lots of object behave with real physics. And I love the cover system, it's so easy and fluid to fight and shoot in this game. And fun!

Oh noes PS+, oh well I can just DOWNLOAD THE DAMN THING FREE TO MY LAPTOP OR XBOX! If they wanted to do it right they should have just let people with PSN+ play it earlier.
