To think that things have gotten this bad and yet the psp is still selling games amazes me. This may be the worst case of console piracy ever. I will never pirate another game again.

Looks like PSP pirates love there RPG's... or are atleast RPG fans.

Silver-Tiger (on 11 June 2010)

I can't believe these number are real. They have no sources, no information on how these are tracked. And 5 million donwloads for Dissidia? It just sold 1.2 million copies WORLDWIDE, now pirates should have downloaded the game more than 4th times the sales in Japan alone? No effin way.

Most of these games are Japanese. The Asian pirates got them on this with no mercy. Sony needs to secure the psp2 very well.

DAM....i thought the DS was bad...but this is disturbing really..

almcchesney (on 10 June 2010)

i really want the psp2 to come out to get rid of the drought of good portable games due to piracy, sony this time crack down hard on the shit, leave no vulnerabilities, use your own proprietary format system like the wii and ps3 does, and give it background dl capabilities. @gameman87 it is worse than the ds...

Dissidia has/had a firmware?

non-gravity (on 10 June 2010)

I think Dissidia Final Fantasy was the first of a few games that used a new annoying firmware when it released last year. People might have been downloading it more then once.

C_Hollomon (on 10 June 2010)

This is really sad. Dissidia: Final Fantasy sold 1.7m and the downloads are over 5m. SE lost more money than they made. They need to bring out the PSP2 now. No one is making money off PSP. It's dead now. MGS Peace Walker will have millions of downloads too.

gurglesletch (on 10 June 2010)

PSP 2 needs to be more unhackable because these numbers are insane.

Salnax (on 10 June 2010)

Wow. No wonder the PSP is prospering in Japan.

zzamaro (on 10 June 2010)

@AnthonyW86 I'm with you, man. Mainly because the PSP go can't be hacked. Nintendo must try that too. PSP go need to be cheaper and its games too because they are the same price as the UMD ones.

Burning Typhoon (on 10 June 2010)

I'd assume that well over 4,000,000 of the guys that bootlegged are the same guys who would have passed the game by if they had been forced to buy. Either play for free, or not at all. At least the PS3 has it's cap. With that said, the estimates can't possibly be correct.

Vermise (on 10 June 2010)

I wouldn't mind going digital if they lowered the prices of the games by at lest 10 dollars. Think about it they wouldn't have to spend money on the discs but we would have to buy new memory cards for there games, so we would be spending more and them spending less. That doesn't add up to me...

gameman87 (on 10 June 2010)

Holy F***. This might be even worse than the DS.

AnthonyW86 (on 10 June 2010)

And people still don't get why Sony wants to go for digital distribution... I think it would be a good for the gaming industry if both Sony and Nintendo make their next handheld digital only.

They need to do something fast
