Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City Coming to PS3?
by Christian Witka, posted on 27 January 2010 / 5,651 ViewsWord on Grand Theft Auto IV Downloadable Content was out way before the game even launched, and it's rumored Microsoft paid 50 million dollar to keep it exclusive to the Xbox 360 for a while. Well, who could say no to 50 million dollars?
It's been rumored for a while that this exclusivity contract was about to end, and now Simply Games is listing the DLC to the PS3:

For about 48.35 dollars, out in 62 days, you can have it on your PS3. The product description follows:
Episodes from Liberty City
Episodes from Liberty City is the brand new Grand Theft Auto, containing two complete games – The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned – together in one box.
The Ballad of Gay Tony
The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz, and grime. As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka Gay Tony), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.
The Lost and Damned
In The Lost and Damned, experience Liberty City as Johnny, a veteran member of The Lost, a notorious biker gang. Johnny has been creating business opportunities for The Lost in Liberty City but his first loyalty must be to the patch he wears on his back and to Billy Grey, the club’s President. However, when Billy returns from rehab hell-bent on bloodshed and debauchery, Johnny finds himself in the middle of a vicious turf war with rival gangs for control of a city torn apart by violence and corruption. Can the brotherhood survive?
The pack also contains a few other goodies that you can't get buying the two DLCs separately, like exclusive radio stations. We should also hope to see the pack in the Playstation Network soon.
UPDATE: The listing has since been removed from the site. Either Take-Two wants to keep this hushed and make an official announcement, or this is simply fake. The latter appears more likely at this stage.

http://ir.take2games.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=441337 Yup, march 30.
MS thought the dlc to gtaIV, and other games in general, would sell much better than it did. MS and others are a bit surprised that dlc hasn't become as big as predicted, which is a good thing, because once you buy dlc it's resale value become $0, and hard copies of video games have a very good resale value, so please do not support dlc, unless the price comes way down, dlc was originally created to be free of charge, it was a gimmick to keep you playing a product longer, but console developers figured out that people will actually pay for this, so now this is the present
This makes no sense, why would microsoft pay $50 million, which is enough to fund 2 AAA game projects, just to have timed exclusivity. On the other hand maybe we now know the real reason why Peter Moore is no longer at Microsoft.
It was stated that MS paid $50 million dollars and if they did not make it all back, the difference would be paid by Take 2. Sort of like a loan so Take2 could make the DLC.
fake fake.... some play with PS3 fan mind i guest ... /: it was remove from the site!
dont get your hopes up guys, the ps3 version has vanished on simply games now @Jneul- those series were ruined cause they came to xbox were they? grow up fanboy
on whose planet is the DLC is a failure? over a million hard copies in the first 10 weeks and probably even more as downloads when they were first released.
@ jneul Yeah that was the fault of Microsoft. Ofcourse they are the creators of those games, and not Capcom Rockstar and Namco Bandai :S
probably sony can generate sales now for them without having had to pay for the exclusivity
i want it too !!! never in the story of GTA a game was exclusive to the xbox... now this exclusivity will vanish =) yeahhh
YAY.... while you're at it you can preorder GT5 (out on 25/03/10) and Dead Rising 2 on PS3 (out on 26/02/10) .... yeah... very reliable source.
I don't think it's true when I look at the price - 30RRP, on X360 it's like 17-20RRP.
50 Mill? Wonder if MS got close to making that back. Funny thing is, if this does come out on the PS3, Sony will have had to pay nothing to get it
that price is a rip off. Can't wait for agent we need something new now that GTA is officially wrecked, thanks MS for ruining the following franchises Tekken, DMC, and GTA.
The DLC for the 360 was a FAILURE, $50 million wasted and now PS3 fans can get this. San Andreas is still the best GTA
What did Microsoft pay $50 million for? I was assuming it was exclusive DLC. Didn't Microsoft say the two episodes were going to be exclusive?
Hmn, good for ps3 users that still care about this game forme it was a bad game compared to San Andreas
didn't it come out to the equivalent of $19.99 per episode on XBL?
I can understand your hate comments... But me as an PS3 only owner, I happy to finally enjoy these Episodes. Though I'm getting them used and cheap. I won't buy it until the price has fallen down to 10 bucks or something.
hope so,be good to go back and play some extra's what's with the beef,if you don't like gtaIV,then don't play it
huh... are we sure this is real, afterall M$ did pay $50 million for what i assume was more than a timed exclusive deal...
Don't get me wrong. If they spent only say a million or so for Star Ocean IV to have it exclusive for a year they would make money off of it if they got $2 extra per copy, but I imagine more with royalties and such. How much does the average next gen game cost? I'm reading figures from $10 million to $20 million (360, PS3 and PC multiplatform titles) so I imagine most companies are probably getting say $5 million or so from MS for these "timed" exclusives to make it worth while.
Wow, so MS spent a stupid amount for just over a year exclusivity? That sounds pretty dumb on their part. Then again maybe they were expecting GTA IV like numbers for sales. $50 million for only 1.20 million copies sold and some obviously downloaded off of XBL. Thats gonna be a pretty hefty loss for MS unless they got a pretty big cut in royalities from it which I doubt. Makes me wonder how much they paid for Star Ocean 4 and Tales of Vesperia.
@aleusianacht88 right on brotha couldnt have said it better myself!!!
FCK Rockstar they betrayed Sony by ignoring ps3 i aint buying shit from dem nomore just like Clutch said: $50 million... hmmm I guess they don't need my money. (they're not getting it)
@aleusianacht88 man, you're right ...even both stuff were free, it won't be enough...
I dont have a 360, i like grand theft auto....but i dont think i'm gonna get this, Rockstar screwed ps3 owners over, this is not enough of an apology.
Wouldn't surprise me at all just another timed exclusive contract expired.
This is whats killing 360, the whole exclusive for a while deal When are they gonna realize that they need to build up there game divisions rather than throwing away money into foolish things!! tsk_tsk
man..I have mixed feelings on this, true I would like to to flop....I mean 2 years of ignoring the other half, but I do love my GTA(maybe the bonus content might seal the deal)
i have the game on 360 I haven't even touched it...Screw shitty ass GTA
I don't care what none of you jokes say I'm getting it! Oh, trust me its legit...
R*, even though I love you, don't expect me to buy this fucking game after you ignored it for YEARS! Besides, I already played it on the 360......
"...i hope it flops. Releasing DLC for a game after ignoring it for 2 years? lol..." Agree!
$50 million... hmmm I guess they don't need my money. (they're not getting it)
The episodes were fun...and well worth the $50 million advancement...they have sold 2.5-3 million units combined...but I guess some think that's a disappoinment.
Doubt it until i hear any confirmation from R* or Sony. Even then, i hope it flops. Releasing DLC for a game after ignoring it for 2 years? lol...
Hoorah, about time! Wasn't keen on just GTA4 but with all the nice added extras, seems a good deal.
